The Bianca Belair vs Bayley feud is the perfect place to introduce War Games
The women’s division has stood center stage under Triple H’s guidance of WWE creative. A big match is set for Clash at the Castle as Raw Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair, will team with Asuka and Alexa Bliss to take on Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai. That will be a moment, but fans recognize how big a moment it would be if the stakes were pushed even higher and this became a War Games match at the premium live event.
War Games on NXT was met with rousing success when the match type was dusted off back in 2017. Some of the biggest feuds were closed out in the cage, with names like The Undisputed Era, Pat McAfee, Ricochet, and others stepping into the cage. Things picked up in 2019 when the women joined in the fun, getting their own opportunity to take place in War Games battles.
That gave way to big moments like Kai’s heel turn, Raquel Rodriguez pinning Rhea Ripley, and Sky jumping from the top of the cage with a trash can over her head. As is the case whenever women are granted the same opportunities as their male colleagues, the women find ways to step up to the plate and hit home runs. The ladies have put on some excellent War Games matches and bringing this match to the main roster would certainly generate a lot of buzz for WWE content as it continues to gain steam under Triple H’s leadership.
War Games feature four-on-four teams and that gives space for one additional person added to each group. So, with the six-woman tag in place, who could step in to bring the total up to the required number of eight? Perhaps a returning Tegan Nox who has reasons to want to take out Sky and Kai or could very well join their forces because she was also released because of “budget cuts.” Maybe a returning Candice LeRae? Or even someone like Zelina Vega who has teased a return from injury. The options are there with a strong women’s roster on Monday Night Raw.
Triple H in a leadership position caused many to speculate that many released stars would return to WWE. As that continues to unfold, what about the opportunity for new match types to show up as well? War Games would be a welcome addition to the main roster and this angle involving the top women on Monday Night Raw is a strong place to do so.
