WWE Extreme Rules 2022: 3 Reasons Liv Morgan Should Defeat Ronda Rousey
By Mark Justice
WWE Extreme Rules 2022 is three weeks from now, and the WWE has already booked a title match for the show: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Title. Liv Morgan already defeated Rousey on two separate occasions. She defeated Rousey when she cashed in to win the championship at MITB and defeated Rousey again when she retained her title at SummerSlam in a match that had a controversial finish.
Now that Rousey is getting another title match and even teasing a revenge plan with Shayna Baszler, Liv Morgan’s title reign seems to be in jeopardy…
The following will provide three key reasons why Liv Morgan should defeat Ronda Rousey and retain her title at WWE Extreme Rules 2022.
3.) Liv Morgan needs a clean victory against Rousey to solidify her reign
Liv Morgan cannot continue her reign with fluky victories as if it’s a fairy tale. In order to be taken seriously as champion, she needs more clean victories to solidify her reign. She already defeated Shayna Baszler clean and she needs to do the same against Rousey, and she can realistically win with weapons in an Extreme Rules setting.
A loss against Rousey would make Morgan’s title reign a complete failure. The fans are always clamoring for new stars in the main event scene, and it is too early to give up on a rising star who is gradually getting better as champion.
2.) Ronda Rousey does not need the championship to remain established
Ronda Rousey is already an established name and draw in the WWE; she does not need a championship to remain relevant. She can feud with Becky Lynch without the world title, and it will draw. She can team up with Baszler to win the tag team championships, and it will draw.
She has so many avenues for her direction on SmackDown, and they will all draw without gold in her possession. Notwithstanding, it also would be completely counterproductive for the future of this division if Morgan to loses the title back to the same individual she dethroned in the first place.
1.) Liv Morgan needs to feud with Charlotte to bring everything full circle
On the July 16, 2019, episode of WWE SmackDown, Liv Morgan battled Charlotte Flair in a one-on-one match. Although she lost the match, she proclaimed “Charlotte was right. And when I come back, I’m going to BE REAL” Back then, Charlotte basically called Morgan out for being mid. Now that Morgan has been evolving into a main event player as champion in Charlotte’s absence, Morgan needs to remain champion until Charlotte returns from her hiatus so that this feud can finally come back full circle in the grand schemes of long-term booking.
As a result, Liv Morgan needs to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at WWE Extreme Rules 2022. It would be a mistake if she didn’t.
