Wrestling Observer reported last week that Triple H was continuing to work on surprise returns involving names that people weren’t talking about and one popped up on Monday Night Raw. Candice LeRae’s surprise return caught the wrestling world off guard, much like her husband’s return a few weeks prior. Adding LeRae to an already stacked women’s division gives the promotion much more versatility and the opportunity to present some of the best women’s wrestling in the world.

Heading into the night, Fightful Select did its typical reporting of the potential show rundown based on inside sources. Nikki ASH was scheduled to face off against Doudrop in singles action. For those paying attention, ASH and Doudrop have been seen in backstage segments arguing after suffering multiple losses as a team, so it seemed almost normal that it would lead to a split between the two. However, it would not be Doudrop coming out to face the former champion, as LeRae stepped through the curtain to a loud response.

LeRae adds an immediate impact to the women’s division, as there’s nothing she can’t do in the space of professional wrestling. She adds a big babyface name to the division. One who can build a character both in the ring and on the microphone. She can work with any style of performer. Look at her history of matches both within WWE and during her time on the independent scene as evidence. There isn’t anything LeRae can’t do in the ring.

One of the biggest misses during her time in NXT was that she wasn’t given the opportunity to run with the proverbial ball as the brand’s biggest women’s babyface. LeRae would have excelled in that position and should have had the chance to hold that gold around her waist.

Her addition to Monday Night Raw builds an exceptionally strong roster. Along with Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO Sky, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Doudrop, and ASH – this group screams top-level talent. And the brand still has Becky Lynch, Zelina Vega, and Carmella on the shelf. Plus, there’s been hints of Indi Hartwell making the jump to Raw as well, making her the final member of The Way to make the move.

Triple H stepping into his role as the leader of talent relations and creative has done a lot for WWE but continues to improve the women’s division. LeRae is a great addition to the group and bringing her in as such as surprise is another reason this show has become must watch each week.
