Carmelo Hayes is ready. One of the main talking points from Shawn Michaels leading to NXT Halloween Havoc is around Hayes as a talent and potentially the future of WWE. As he stands ready to take part in a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship, one this is certain – Hayes doesn’t need to win this title for the third time and should be on his way to the main roster in the coming weeks.
Michaels is in a front-row position to enjoy what Hayes is doing as one of the premiere talents on NXT. The former WWE Champion, multiple-time Hall of Famer, and potentially greatest wrestler of all time has strong feelings for Hayes and what he’s seen of him in the ring to date.
“I have taken interest in Melo from day one. I got him on television as quickly as I could,” Michaels said during the media call to promote the PLE, audio via Fightful. “He’s a good kid and I think the sky is the limit for him. He’s special. He’s talented.”
Those are heavy words coming from an individual that could be ranked at the top of any wrestling fan’s list. With all he’s achieved in NXT and looking at the present makeup of the WWE main roster, this is the perfect time to set the stage for Hayes’s rise to either show.
On SmackDown B-Fab of Hit Row mentioned she had an idea of someone who could help them even up the odds in their back-and-forth with Legado del Fantasma. It would be too easy to add Hayes to that group, even if just for a one-off moment. Hayes doesn’t need a group. He doesn’t need a mouthpiece. Just like the moment when Hayes was introduced to the NXT fan base, stepping up to challenge Kushida, then not backing down from Adam Cole, he will have an immediate impact on either show.
Carmelo Hayes versus Seth Rollins. Hayes versus Mustafa Ali. Hayes versus Chad Gable. Bobby Lashley. Gunther. Butch. Sheamus. There are so many different combinations that fans have yet to see under the big lights offered on the WWE main roster. Enjoy the ladder match at NXT Halloween Havoc as this should be the last time Hayes is seen on the brand. Either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown is immediately elevated the minute he’s added to the equation.
