The WWE Royal Rumble is weeks away, but the anticipation for the first big event of the year is already growing. As murmurs grow around surprise appearances and potential winners, it’s clear that this showcase is an opportunity to kick off 2023 with strong momentum. WWE NXT should have a part in the Rumble and while the winner may not come from that brand, here are three names that should appear in the match.

Axiom

Axiom’s introduction to the NXT brand was met with a bit of skepticism, but he’s overachieved in the time since. He falls into the group of competitors that WWE can “count on” to put together an excellent match. When given the opportunity, he’s done great work with individuals like Nathan Frazer and JD McDonough. His standout moment was the performance he put together during the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Even though he didn’t pick up the victory, he stole the show during that showcase match.

Putting Axiom in the Rumble and allowing him to have some big moments would be another strong introduction for the performer and perhaps build some fans that may follow him to WWE NXT each Tuesday.

Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker’s push in WWE NXT continues, but the ceiling is quickly approaching. The main roster needs another individual that can come across as a main event star, and Breakker is one of the few on that list. Other than the desired feud with Carmelo Hayes, he’s done all that he can as NXT’s champion. Now is the time to move him over to the main roster.

With NXT New Year’s Evil scheduled for January 10, Breakker could drop the title to Grayson Waller with enough time to tell the full story before debuting on the main roster. Waller as the man to finally defeat Breakker would surprise a lot of people, but it’s still a step to develop Waller and get the title off Breakker. In the Rumble, seeing him last until the last four or five competitors in the match is the star-making moment he would need to be the next big thing on either Raw or SmackDown.

Odyssey Jones

There are a few names on the NXT roster that immediately exude star power. Odyssey Jones is one of those individuals. Everything about his presentation and fan reaction gives a hint that WWE has something special in this performer. Getting him into the Rumble would be a big moment to introduce him to viewers who may want to see more of what he can do.

Jones can have the typical big-man spot in the match. Have him come in early and eliminate a few names before the rest of the group team up to get him out of the match. It would be a fun spot meant to create a “who is that guy” moment, leaving fans wanting to see more.
