Three surprise entrants for the men’s 2023 WWE Royal Rumble

Anticipation is high for the men’s 2023 WWE Royal Rumble and these three individuals would be major surprises.

The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble is days away. The speculation around who will win the men’s match is growing, as there isn’t a clear favorite outside of potentially Cody Rhodes. The same could be said for surprises, as many names are bouncing around for potentially shocking entrants. These are three names that could pop up in the Rumble and receive a massive reaction from fans.

Carlito

Carlito popped up in the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble and received a strong reaction online – thanks to the fact that fans were unable to be in attendance due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Carlito still looked like the part of the star that WWE wanted to create in him more than a decade ago. At 43 years old that time may be over, but it would still be interesting to see what type of run he could have in today’s WWE. Even if he made a stopover in WWE NXT where his talent would be a fresh look in the brand.

Tama Tonga

Is the Forbidden Door truly open with the WWE? Karl Anderson made multiple trips to New Japan since returning to WWE in October and there’s speculation that more could be on the way. One individual could be Tama Tonga, who Anderson faced at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Fightful Select reported that WWE has shown a renewed interest in Tonga, and there are growing rumors that his time with the company is either over or soon to be over. At 40 years old Tonga may be in the later years of his career, but he could still contribute as a part of the WWE roster. He may not be a main event star in the promotion, but he’s someone that would fit in well in storylines against Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and more.

Dragon Lee

Dragon Lee is a new signee to WWE. While he is expected to start in WWE NXT, introducing him through the Royal Rumble would be a good way to go. Lee is a big get for the company and someone that can be developed into a big star in the future. To get him to that point, the company needs to present him as such a star from the jump. While WWE NXT continues to improve as a platform, inserting him directly into the Royal Rumble and giving him a big moment there can potentially translate to eyeballs following him over to Tuesday nights.

The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble will be an exciting night on January 28. The expectations are surprises galore are in store, and these three men would be a nice addition to the equation.
