Logan Paul versus John Cena is the perfect crossover match fit for WrestleMania 39.

The Royal Rumble is one week away and there’s a lot of anticipation around the kickoff event to lead to WrestleMania. Many eyes are on Roman Reigns and whether he’ll face The Rock or some other competitor. That would be a big match, but it’s not the only big match of a two-night showcase. Fans wonder if John Cena will be in action as well. Rumors swirl around who he will face and the idea of a match against Logan Paul would be a huge spectacle fit for the show of shows.

John Cena maybe 45 years of age and sporting a bald spot, but that hasn’t hindered his draw as a massive attraction for the WWE. Cena teamed with Kevin Owens against Reigns and Sami Zayn to close out 2022, and he put the “butts in seats” as some would say. Reports are that the December 30 edition of SmackDown drew 2.63 million viewers, breaking a record for SmackDown. Cena has grown to become a household name, voice, and face so it’s understandable that the WWE would want him in a big match.

Is Paul headed on the same trajectory as Cena? The verdict is still out, but one thing is sure – he’s certainly on his way. While many have their issues with Logan and Jake Paul’s behavior, viewers still tune in to see them perform in any shape. Paul’s match against Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel last year was one of the most talked about matches of the year. And Paul delivered as a performer when the pressure was one. An injury has him sidelined since, but there have been reports that he’d be available for WrestleMania.

John Cena versus Logan Paul fits for such a big show

That brings us to the conversation of Cena versus Paul. Angel Aramboles of Wrestling News reported back in December that the match is scheduled for WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Network discussed that he was informed WWE has mulled the idea of the two facing off, all the while, Logan continues to openly call for the match. It’s the perfect storm to create the type of matches for WrestleMania that WWE adores – those that bring in big crossover attraction.

Initially, there were rumors that Austin Theory would be the man that faced Cena at WrestleMania. While that can still happen, the best outcome for such a match would be for Theory to pick up a victory to help his further development as a main event star. With Logan Paul versus John Cena, there’s more of a question about who comes out as the winner. Of course, Cena is the multiple-time champion, and future Hall of Famer and should be expected to get the win to give fans their happy moment. But what if WWE sees big money in the 27-year-old? He’s talked about being fully invested in professional wrestling and wants to have a lasting impact. Could this be the first step of Paul becoming a main event, part-time player for WWE?
