WWE SmackDown Predictions For January 27, 2023: Karrion Kross Will Put Rey Mysterio To Sleep

WWE SmackDown is on the road to WWE Royal Rumble 2023. In this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, there are four scheduled matches: (1) Kevin Owens vs. Solo Sikoa, (2) Karrion Kross vs. Rey Mysterio, (3) Imperium vs. Legado Del Fantasma in the SmackDown Tag Title Number One Contender’s Tag Tournament, and (4) Banger Bros vs. Hit Row in the SmackDown Tag Title Number One Contender’s Tag Tournament. In terms of segments, there are none scheduled.

In terms of the upcoming PPV, other than the Rumbles, Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Bianca Belair (c) vs. Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship, Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight in a Pitch Black Match are scheduled. It is very likely that Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Sonya Deville for the SmackDown Women’s Title will be added to the card as well after they brawled both in the ring and in the backstage area in recent weeks.

The following will provide some rapid-fire predictions for what should be an exciting Royal Rumble go-home show of WWE SmackDown tonight.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on January 27, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

Kevin Owens vs. Solo Sikoa [Grudge Match]

Kevin Owens will defeat Solo Sikoa because he is the number one contender to the Undisputed WWE Universal Title on Saturday and needs the momentum for the title match. This victory will be an important momentum booster for Owens because he can be the first superstar to defeat Sikoa in a singles match on the main roster. In typical WWE fashion, it is likely that this match ends in disqualification to protect both parties but a clean victory over Sikoa would be more impactful in enhancing Owens’ credibility and believability in dethroning Roman Reigns on Saturday.

Prediction: Kevin Owens

Imperium vs. Legado Del Fantasma [Tag Tournament]

Imperium will defeat Legado Del Fantasma because they promised Gunther that they would make him proud in this tournament. They should at least make it to the finals of this tournament in order to tease the idea if Imperium holding all the gold, like The Bloodline is doing right now.

Prediction: Imperium

Banger Bros vs. Hit Row [Tag Tournament]

Banger Bros will defeat Hit Row because they are the inevitable winners of this tournament and should defeat Imperium in the finals to build up their ultimate feud against Gunther for the IC Title at Mania, especially since they are clearly losing to the Usos for the Undisputed Tag Titles.

Prediction: Banger Bros

Karrion Kross vs. Rey Mysterio [Grudge Match]

Karrion Kross will defeat Rey Mysterio because he needs to avenge Mysterio for taking away his spot in the number one contender’s match for the Intercontinental Title on the October 14, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown. Kross was taken out of that number one contender’s match due to Drew McIntyre’s attack in the parking lot. Kross needs to get past Mysterio in order to establish his spot as the number one contender for the IC Title and hopefully get his rubber match against McIntyre for the belt at ‘Mania in a ladder match with the likes GUNTHER, Sheamus, and more.
