These three teams will hold the tag team titles by the end of 2023
Soon we will be seeing new Tag Team Champions. Whether it is on Smackdown, Raw, or if they decide to keep the titles unified.
Who will dethrone The Usos? Once that happens, we could see all kinds of new teams getting their chance at the titles.
Also, when it comes to the Women’s Tag Team Champions Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky, haven’t defended the titles yet in 2023 and have been champions for over 150 days.
It’s unlikely they will hold the titles throughout the entire year and will lose them sometime relatively soon. But to whom?
Forecasting the year, here are three teams that will hold the tag titles in 2023.
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens
The way The Bloodline storyline is playing out, these have to be the guys to take them down and end their reign. A scenario where Sami Zayn loses at Elimination Chamber because Jey decides to remain with his family and helps Roman Reigns keep his title. Zayn then aligns himself with his friend and former tag team partner Kevin Owens and alters his focus to The Usos. They have a feud going back and forth for a few weeks and dethrone The Usos at WrestleMania and become the new Undisputed Tag Team Champions.
We would likely see a rematch scenario in this a while, but the way things are trending right now, Zayn and Owens will be Tag Team champions if not at WrestleMania, sometime this year.
Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler
Ronda Rousey made her first return last week on Smackdown since unprecedently losing the Smackdown Women’s Championship a few weeks ago to Charlotte Flair. Her return was coming from the support of Shayna Baszler.
Although fans were getting tired of Rousey being the champion, her reign received some new life when Baszler joined forces with her. It created an intimidating duo that the women’s roster could have been scared of. If written correctly, it could have altered to way Rousey’s tenure as champ was obtained by the WWE Universe.
That’s neither here nor there. Rousey’s role with WWE seems to need to be resurrected and officially making Rousey and Baszler a tag team seems to be what’s coming if that is indeed the case, this team will be a force to be reckoned with and will become Women’s Tag Team Champions this year.
Drew McIntyre & Sheamus
Formerly known as The Banger Bros, Drew McIntyre, and Sheamus find themselves looking for a new name for their tag team. Originally, it looked like they were supposed to win the recent Tournament on Smackdown that would have made them number one contenders for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship instead of Braun Stroman and Ricochet, but WWE Creative had to change their name due to an adult film company having the same name.
As a team, it’s tough to see any team beating this duo. Since I believe Owens and Zayn will be the ones to take down The Usos, that occurrence will open the door for other tag teams to legitimately have a shot at the titles. Once WWE figures out what they will call the duo moving forward and stick with it, this team will earn themselves some tag team gold in 2023 as well.
