WWE MITB 2023: 3 Compelling Challengers For Austin Theory

WWE MITB 2023 is approximately one month away, and WWE has not yet built any blockbuster feuds for this “premium live event.” However, there are already some rumored matchups, like Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa vs. Usos.

This event is also taking place in the UK, which means there will be strong support for UK WWE superstars, such as Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Finn Balor, and much more. The following will provide three compelling challengers for Austin Theory, who has held the U.S. Title since Survivor Series last year, at WWE MITB 2023.

WWE MITB 2023 is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2023, live on Peacock. Here are three compelling challengers for Austin Theory at WWE MITB 2023.

3.) Sheamus

Sheamus is already in a feud with Austin Theory for the U.S. Title. Although he lost to Theory in their title match on SmackDown last week, it was nefariously retained due to Pretty Deadly’s interference. Therefore, this feud is far from over and a rematch is in store for WWE MITB 2023.

Since this PPV is in the UK, WWE will undoubtedly assure Sheamus a spot on the card. The U.S. Title could be a consolation prize for Sheamus after he failed to achieve his Ultimate Grand Slam for the Intercontinental Title against Gunther the last time they were in the UK for Clash at the Castle.

2.) Cameron Grimes

Cameron Grimes has had a hot start to his main roster career with victories over Baron Corbin and Ashanti Thee Adonis. If he continues to rack up these wins, he will be going to the moon with a U.S. Title opportunity.

Grimes and Theory have never feuded before, even though they were both in NXT around the same time. It would be an interesting feud to add a breath of fresh air to the midcard on SmackDown. As an entertaining babyface, Grimes could do wonders with the U.S. Title and even reignite his “million-dollar” feud with LA Knight at some point.

1.) AJ Styles

AJ Styles actually has Austin Theory’s number in the WWE. According to their track record, Styles is 2-0 against Theory. That makes Styles the most compelling threat to Theory’s title reign on SmackDown. Since Styles lost in his pursuit for the World Title against Seth Rollins, a consolation prize could be in store for him in the form of the U.S. Title.

Styles has won this title in the past and can very well make it prestigious with the O.C. on his side. Like Theory, he also beat John Cena on a big stage and maybe he could be the one to shut Theory up for good.
