WWE MITB 2023: 3 Worthy Title Contenders For Gunther

WWE MITB 2023 is approximately one month away, and WWE has not yet built any blockbuster feuds for this “premium live event.” However, there are already some rumored matchups, like Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa vs. Usos. This event is also taking place in the UK, which means there will be strong support for UK WWE superstars, such as Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Finn Balor, and much more. Gunther, in particular, will likely defend the Intercontinental Title at this event.

The following will provide three worthy title contenders for Gunther, who is on the verge of passing Honky Tonk Man’s record as Intercontinental Champion.

WWE MITB 2023 is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2023, live on Peacock. Here are three worthy title contenders for Gunther at WWE MITB 2023.

3.) Sami Zayn

Although he is currently one-half of the Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Sami Zayn has been feuding with Imperium lately. Sami Zayn has been Intercontinental Champion before, and he could do wonders in elevating Gunther in what would be a compelling feud. Gunther needs more heat as a heel, and the fans’ immense love for Zayn could garner that heat more than many may think. Zayn’s feuds are storyline driven and entertaining, and it would be no different with Gunther.

2.) Kevin Owens

Although he is currently one-half of the Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Kevin Owens has also been feuding with Imperium lately. Kevin Owes also has been Intercontinental Champion before, and he could do wonders in elevating Gunther in what would also be a compelling feud. Owens has not won a singles championship in over five years, so this would be an awesome chase for him at this point in time. He called Gunther the guy with the “big ears” on Raw. They can expand on that.

1.) Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle is the ideal opponent for Gunther at WWE MITB 2023. Unlike Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, he is not currently a tag team champion and has never been Intercontinental Champion before. However, Riddle has done some great work with Randy Orton as a tag team to establish himself and has been directly interacting with Gunther recently. This could finally be his time to brand out as a singles breakout star and elicit a breath of fresh air in the mid-card on Raw.
