WWE SmackDown Predictions: Iyo Sky Will Trailblaze This Division

WWE SmackDown is on the road to WWE MITB 2023. In this week’s episode, there are four scheduled MITB Qualifying matches: Iyo Sky vs. Shotzi Blackheart, Bayley vs. Michin, Butch vs. Baron Corbin, and Santos Escobar vs. Mustafa Ali. After these qualifying matches are complete, there will still be one spot left in both MITB Ladder Matches.

In terms of upcoming title matches, Sheamus and Belair are chasing Austin Theory and Asuka, respectively, for the United States and Raw Women’s Titles. Also, the story between Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso continues as tension in The Bloodline has been brewing lately, and it has been rumored that Reigns and Sikoa will battle Usos in a tag team match at MITB.

With that being addressed, the following will provide some rapid-fire predictions for what should be an exciting episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on June 9, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on the USA Network. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

Iyo Sky vs. Shotzi Blackheart [MITB Qualifying Match]

Iyo Sky will defeat Shotzi in this MITB Qualifying Match because she is involved in a major Damage Control storyline with Bayley right now and needs to be featured in this year’s MITB Ladder Match. Shotzi’s high-octane offense and daredevil maneuvers would be ideal for the ladder match. However, from a storyline perspective, she has nothing as important going on right now.

Prediction: Iyo Sky

Bayley vs. Michin [MITB Qualifying Match]

Like Iyo Sky, Bayley will defeat Michin in this MITB Qualifying Match because she is involved in a major Damage Control storyline right now and needs to be featured in this year’s MITB Ladder Match. Michin’s fast-paced offense and hardcore maneuvers would be ideal for the ladder match. However, from a storyline perspective, she also has nothing as important going on right now.

Prediction: Bayley

Butch vs. Baron Corbin [MITB Qualifying Match]

Butch will defeat Corbin in this MITB Qualifying Match because he is from England and was one of the longest NXT UK Champions. WWE would love to tease Butch winning MITB in his hometown. Corbin is a former MITB winner, but he failed that cash-in miserably against Jinder Mahal in 2017. Furthermore, he is merely a free agent now, so it makes no sense for him to qualify for MITB.

Prediction: Butch

Santos Escobar vs. Mustafa Ali [MITB Qualifying Match]

Santos Escobar will defeat Mustafa Ali in this MITB Qualifying Match because Rey Mysterio already teased the idea of him and the already-qualified Zelina Vega bringing the MITB Briefcases to the LWO. Ali was so close to winning MITB but got screwed by Brock Lesnar in 2019. Furthermore, he is merely a free agent right now, so it makes no sense for him to qualify for MITB.

Prediction: Santos Escobar
