WWE FastLane 2023 is still two weeks away, and nothing has been officially announced for this PLE event just yet. However, after an interesting contract signing in the main event of SmackDown on September 22, there seems to be a main event set for FastLane: John Cena and TBD vs. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. This tag match was supposed to have AJ Styles in it, but The Bloodline injured him to assure that the match would not be scheduled for FastLane. Who could replace AJ Styles? Could it be LA Knight? Randy Orton? Cody Rhodes? Or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?

With that being said, the following will focus on some potential matches for this PLE Event and the idea of The Rock replacing AJ Styles at WWE FastLane 2023.

WWE FastLane 2023 is scheduled to take place on October 7, 2023, live on Peacock, and The Rock will replace AJ Styles at this PLE event.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura [World Heavyweight Championship]

Seth Rollins will retain the world title against Shinsuke Nakamura because WWE will need a babyface champion to battle the heel Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. So, expect Rollins to get his revenge for Nakamura’s back attacks in what should be a compelling opener to this B-level PLE. These two actually wrestled at FastLane before, and it was at WWE Fastlane 2021. Seth Rollins has Nakamura’s number because he won that match, and it is likely history will repeat itself here in what should be a match with a special stipulation, such as 2-out-3 Falls Match.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

Chelsea Green & Piper Niven (c) vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark [WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships]

Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark will dethrone Chelsea Green and Piper Niven because Shayna and Zoey need to solidify their babyface turns on the now-absent Ronda Rousey and Trish Stratus respectively. It is quite peculiar that Baszler and Stark would break up their original tag teams to merely form another tag team, instead of pursuing their singles careers. Nonetheless, Chelsea and Piper Niven are merely a substitute tag team due to the injury of Sonya Deville. As Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn said on SmackDown, the women’s tag titles are cursed. The wheel will keep on spinning.

Prediction: Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark
