WWE must move Bron Breakker to the main roster to preserve interest
Bron Breakker has achieved everything possible on WWE NXT and moving him to the main roster now would be the right move.
WWE NXT took on AEW Dynamite on October 10. One of the final scenes of the night saw The Undertaker plant Bron Breakker with a big chokeslam. Moments before that, Breakker dropped an action-packed rematch to Carmelo Hayes, a meeting of the former NXT Champions that will not be their last. After picking up several losses in a row it’s time for WWE to move Breakker to the main roster before his luster is truly washed away.
The WWE NXT creative has been exceptionally better under Shawn Michaels. It took some patience, but fans are provided with ample stories and time dedicated to multiple members of the roster. Breakker remains a key part of the roster, even though he dropped the championship six months ago. Since then, he’s lost angles and matches to individuals like Baron Corbin, Ilja Dragunov, and this recent bout with Hayes. But he’s picked up the right type of wins that keep him hovering near the top of the card. Still, Tuesday’s defeat marks that there isn’t anything left for him to achieve in NXT, and his time on the main roster is upon us.
The inclusion of Paul Heyman creates the perfect opportunity for Breakker to hit the main roster. He doesn’t need to be added to The Bloodline or become a part of that angle. Instead, Roman Reigns “hires” Breakker to take care of an individual like Cody Rhodes. That injects Breakker into a top feud against one of the most important names on the roster, giving them both something to do just long enough to make up for the time that Reigns won’t be on television before the next major PLE cycle. Breakker doesn’t have to come out on top, but his presence is enough to introduce him again to the main roster viewership.
Bronson Reed’s re-introduction to the main roster is a strong example of WWE getting this right. There was a hiccup where it looked like creative changes would push Reed down the roster, but Triple H’s creative has changed things back in the positive – with Reed recently becoming the number one contender to GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship. Following a similar path with Breakker would be the right choice to get this young competitor over with fans. He has so much history being a Steiner, that WWE’s demographic would immediately flock to him.
It is October and Royal Rumble is three months away. That is another opportunity to bring Breakker to the main roster. Give him a featured spot on the roster with several eliminations and he gets a shot in the arm. The openings are there, the question is whether he’s pushed through the door.
There is nothing left for Bron Breakker to reach in WWE NXT. The promotion has someone that fans can get behind or even hate as a dangerous heel. It is time to move him to the main roster before his shine wears completely away on the Tuesday show.
