WWE SmackDown Predictions: AJ Styles Will Help Randy Orton

WWE SmackDown is kickstarting its road to WWE Royal Rumble 2024, which is shaping up with some top candidates like the returning CM Punk and Jade Cargill to be potential Rumble winners this year.

On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, no matches are officially scheduled. However, there are 3 segments scheduled involving Randy Orton, Damage Control, and U.S. Champion Logan Paul. Randy Orton is on a mission to avenge The Bloodline, Bayley was the superstar who got pinned at War Games and might have some issues with Damage Control despite her efforts to save her team at every corner, and U.S. Champion Logan Paul will know his next challenger in what will be his first appearance on SmackDown since winning the U.S. Title from Rey Mysterio.

In other news regarding WWE SmackDown, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Shotzi, and Becky Lynch defeated Damage Control in a show-stealing War Games performance. Santos Escobar defeated Dragon Lee to continue his momentum in his nascent heel turn on LWO. There are rumors of either Los Lotharios or Authors of Pain joining Escobar in this heel turn. Ridge Holland will have some explaining to do after leaving his fellow Brawling Brutes, Butch, high and dry against Pretty Deadly. Also, like Orton, AJ Styles also needs revenge against The Bloodline for writing him off TV.

With that being said, the following will focus on the announced segments for WWE SmackDown and the idea of AJ Styles helping Randy Orton on the road to WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

Randy Orton Returns To SmackDown [Segment]

Randy Orton is advertised for this week’s SmackDown, as he is a free agent at the moment despite showing up on Raw this week. On Raw, he did say that he would get revenge on every member of Bloodline for taking him out of commission in May 2022. However, he is not the only one who wants revenge on The Bloodline. AJ Styles also got attacked and taken out of commission by Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa on the September 22, 2023, episode of SmackDown and is due to return and get his revenge. Since he and Orton have common enemies, they can help each other.

Damage Control Discussion [Segement]

Iyo Sky, Asuka, and Kairi Sane won’t be happy about Bayley eating the pin for their team at Survivor Series War Games. However, the fans will sympathize with Bayley here because Bayley made the extra effort to save all three women from getting pinned inside that sinister structure, but no one was ever around to help Bayley when she was getting pinned. This will be key to Bayley’s inevitable babyface turn when all three women of Damage Control attack her like ravage hyenas. Bayley will need to assemble a team of her own to take them down. Maybe Sasha Banks?

Who is the Next Challenger for U.S. Champion Logan Paul? [Segment]

U.S. Champ Logan Paul, a part-time mid-card champ, is making his first appearance on SmackDown since winning the U.S. Title from Rey Mysterio. Hopefully, whoever is the next challenger will dethrone Paul because Paul should be a transitional champ who was only meant to get that U.S. Title in the public eye for the casual audience. However, since Reigns is already a part-time world champion, the U.S. Title needs to go back into the hands of a full-timer like LA Knight or Kevin Owens, who both need consolation prizes before the blue brand loses any juice it has left.
