WWE SmackDown Predictions: Goldberg Will Confront Roman Reigns

WWE SmackDown is continuing its road to WWE Royal Rumble 2024, which is shaping up with some top candidates like the returning CM Punk and Jade Cargill to be potential Rumble winners this year. On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, two matches are officially scheduled: (1) Kevin Owens vs. Austin Theory in the U.S. Title Tournament, and (2) Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller in the U.S. Title Tournament. Also, Roman Reigns is set to return on SmackDown and handle some Bloodline business after the return of Randy Orton shook things up recently.

In other news regarding WWE SmackDown, Randy Orton and LA Knight are on a warpath to get their revenge on The Bloodline and will hopefully get help from AJ Styles soon. Damage Control is still shaky, especially when pertaining to Bayley, who could be kicked out of the group soon. Also, Charlotte unexpectedly picked up a knee injury during her match with Asuka last week. In the mid-card, Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar both advanced in the U.S. Title Tournament, as they will battle on the taped show for SmackDown on December 22, 2023, due to the Christmas Holidays.

With that being said, the following will focus on the announced matches for WWE SmackDown and the idea of Goldberg confronting Roman Reigns on the road to WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on December 15, 2023, live on FOX, and Goldberg will confront Roman Reigns en route to WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

Who Will Confront Roman Reigns? [Segment]

A babyface combination of Randy Orton, LA Knight, and even AJ Styles are expected to confront Roman here due to their current storyline with The Bloodline. However, this week, Goldberg speared a fan at a football game. That must mean he has a couple more spears left in the tank. Orton, Knight, and Styles may be built up as potential candidates to win the Rumble and challenge Reigns at Mania. On the other hand, Goldberg is at the stage of his career where he would not thrive in the Rumble, but getting an instant world title match would be right up his alley.

Kevin Owens vs. Austin Theory [U.S. Title Tournament]

Kevin Owens will defeat Austin Theory because he has already teased a future title match with Logan Paul after their back-and-forth segment last week. Despite his storyline injury with his hand, that won’t stop him from punching Theory in the face and stunning the “Austin” out of him.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller [U.S. Title Tournament]

Carmelo Hayes will defeat Grayson Waller because this seems to be the beginning of a main roster call-up for one of the greatest NXT Champs of all time. Despite his storyline injury from the backstage attack on NXT, that won’t stop him from missing this opportunity to shine here.
