Becky Lynch's return would be a major boost as WWE heads to Netflix

WWE is heading for a major change in 2025. The company is moving its flagship program, WWE Monday Night Raw, over to Netflix. The first episode of the show on its new streaming service is set for January 6, 2025. Expect WWE to roll out all its biggest stars and amazing matches for the night. A new report from PWInsider pushed the idea that Becky Lynch may make her return as the company prepares for that big night.

It has been nearly six months since Lynch’s last match in the WWE. Liv Morgan defeated Lynch to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship in a steel cage match. Lynch has since exited the company, focusing on some time away after spending the last few years being one of the most important performers in the business.

Lynch was truly a “lynchpin” for the women’s division, as her presence frequently demanded improved booking, presentation, and time allotted to the group. It would make sense for WWE to jockey to re-sign her as the Netflix premiere approaches. Getting her into a new deal and announcing her return as one of the featured moments of the show would draw in eyeballs and headlines, as Becky Lynch is a proven needle-mover. But where would Lynch fit in today’s women’s division?

Obviously, there would be a push to see Becky Lynch at the top, right in the title picture. There’s an opportunity there. She has history with Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan. It would be interesting to see Lynch step into that spot to join Ripley against Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. There’s a natural path that could see Lynch side with Ripley, but the latter still fails to defeat Morgan, creating the path for Lynch to get some revenge instead. There’s a need to “freshen up” the main event picture on Monday Night Raw, as the Ripley versus Morgan angle is growing stale with each passing week. Inserting Lynch into that mix and seeing her rise to the top again would certainly get some fan interest brewing.

Lynch’s return also creates the opportunity to see other women get their chance to shine. She was big on helping newer names get over. Just look at what she did for both Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria. Stratton’s push has continued, while Valkyria has struggled to get any type of momentum. Lynch’s return could help boost their place, and that of others who she’d look to work with. WWE has a massive amount of depth within the division, but the main roster shows are failing at building anyone outside of the title picture. Lynch’s return would help with that in the long run.

Becky Lynch is one of the most important performers in professional wrestling and sports entertainment. Her presence lifts everyone on the roster. If WWE is successful in securing her talents before the premiere on Netflix, her return is going to have a massive impact.
