Dominik Mysterio is embarking on 127 days and counting as the Intercontinental Champion. The biggest heel in all of WWE is reaching an entirely new level of superstardom. He was the one who elevated The Judgement Day to a new level when he first joined the team nearly three years ago.
For the past couple of years, he has been the main one keeping The Judgement Day dominating the brand in a variety of ways.

Although he is booed every time he touches a microphone, he gets the heat from the WWE Universe that any wrestling promotion would want for a heel. So much so that the WWE Universe began pleading for him to win his first singles title on the main roster. He had already won the NXT North American Championship and held it for a while, but it was time for him to take center stage. Once he finally won the IC title, he immediately took a step into a new direction -- the main event scene.

Dominik Mysterio Has Become A Top Star in WWE

Since capturing the title at WrestleMania 41, "Dirty Dom" has quickly transitioned into the main event scene. We're all well aware that the 28-year old Mysterio isn't the typical superstar his age -- he's been in the industry for 20-plus years and has waited for his opportunity to shine. As the current IC champ, he has already put together a fun title run, in fact, probably the best since Gunther's 666-day reign.

"I know this is a working man’s title, but hell, if I don’t think anyone is good enough to challenge me, I might hold off for a year. I might not even challenge [anyone] for a year. Who knows? If you’re not worthy of it, why should I let you challenge for my title?" Mysterio said while speaking to Carl Lamarre of Billboard. "I just beat AJ Styles — who’s beaten everybody — so I’ve technically beaten everybody. Forget Steiner Math, this is Dirty Dom Math."

He has fully embraced this character that pays homage to the legendary Eddie Guerrero. In addition to that, he has won over the WWE Universe, and the tides are shifting from being the most hated heel in the industry to slowly becoming a babyface. Especially, when it comes to the current status of The Judgement Day, they do have some gold, but not all the gold like they've been accustomed to for the past few years. Let's not forget the fact that Mysterio pinned Balor in order to win the IC belt in the first place.

Whether he loses the title to Styles soon or to anyone before the year is up, Mysterio has proved to be ready for the main event scene. His success throughout the rest of 2025 will help solidify that even further. The best part about it all is that he doesn't even have to keep the title in order for this to happen. More than likely, when he loses the IC title, that will be the beginning of the end of the faction as we know it. It'll probably be due to Finn Balor or someone else getting involved when they weren't supposed to.

The rest of 2025 will be huge for the next phase of Dom's career. WWE creative has already done a phenomenal job marketing "Dirty Dom," and the writing for him since becoming champion has been great. Going from the days of teaming with his deadbeat dad and WWE Hall-of-Famer Rey Mysterio, he has become one of the top stars in professional wrestling, and the rest of the year could be some of the best moments of his career.
