It's time to move on from the Judgment Day

The Judgment Day has been a top faction in WWE for years, but it is time to move on from the group entirely.

The October 28 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw ended with another Judgment Day segment. Damian Priest stood in the ring glaring at the members of his former faction after they cost him a match against Dominick Mysterio. It was a moment that seemed familiar, as it is a familiar trope in professional wrestling. Yet, it is one that needs to end soon because the Judgment Day story has certainly run its course.

Let’s be honest. The Judgment Day faction truly exceeded expectations. This is the same group that featured Edge in what was a comical gimmick for all intents and purposes. Since then, it evolved month after month until it became a pillar of the promotion’s weekly programming. Finn Balor captured tag championships with both Damian Priest and JD McDonagh. Priest himself became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and eventually, Liv Morgan took over as she became the WWE Women’s World Champion. A lot of things have changed, but the group has remained as a central force every Monday evening.

While there has been good to come out of this faction’s place at the top of the card. It’s time to move on from them. Priest recently told GUNTHER he’s poised to make another run to the main event to become a champion. Focus on that. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are still battling over their issues, which have more layers than Dom’s love. It’s time to move on from that angle as well. Balor and McDonaugh have the potential to be a great tag team, and there are several viable teams for them to face in drawn-out angles.

Dominick Mysterio seems to be the odd one out. His angles consistently involve either Rhea Ripley/Liv Morgan or his father, Rey Mysterio. There’s no need to go back to that either, but it is hard to see him involved in any other feud that makes sense. There has been a lot of praise for Mysterio’s work as a slimy heel. Stepping out from under the umbrella that has been Judgment Day will be a real test for his viability as a sports entertainer.

Then there’s Liv Morgan. The women’s division feels stagnant as she and Ripley continue to battle for everything they’ve lost, while the championship remains a background prop. The women’s division on Raw is packed with talent and there’s no reason more individuals aren’t being booked as potential threats to that championship, which Morgan needs to defend more consistently.

Judgment Day has been the most important group in WWE. While The Bloodline has been the focal point for much of the last few years, Judgment Day has consistently been on the product, even appearing across all three brands. Still, it’s time to lay this faction to rest and go in a new direction with everyone involved.
