WWE Money in the Bank 2025 is on the horizon. This is typically one of the more exciting PLEs in the year, because it sets the stage for two performers to get a clear path to the main event scene. However, WWE’s main event picture isn’t looking as good as it once was. In fact, there’s speculation of a “big” match at Money in the Bank that is one that no one actually wants to see. Rumors are that John Cena will team with Logan Paul and Travis Scott to take on The Usos and Cody Rhodes. If this is the direction the WWE is moving toward, it is one that will push fans further away.

WrestleVotes made the initial report during an episode of the Backstage Pass, kicking off the speculation that ran wild across the internet.

“Amid speculation, we’re told WWE has plans for Travis Scott to appear at the Money in the Bank PLE on June 7th. Sources indicate that has been in the works since before WrestleMania.” They would further explain that there are “significant” plans for Scott to be involved in the PLE.

For many, this is a worst-case scenario for WWE’s direction. Scott’s involvement in the WrestleMania 41 main event match between Cena and Rhodes was one of many factors that made that entire feud a disappointment. Throw in The Rock not appearing and the rumored change of locations, and fans are right to be extremely frustrated with WWE and where the company is headed from a creative and priority standpoint.

Endeavor’s fingerprints are all over this development

WWE has long had a focus on mainstream appeal through the inclusion of celebrities. Whether it was Mr. T, Snookie, Floyd Mayweather, Hugh Jackman, Cardi B, or the hundreds of other celebrities who’ve shown up in the company for years – WWE loves the headlines that come when big names show up.

But that has changed with Endeavor involved and changed for the worse. Now, the weekly shows are filled with segments highlighting the celebrities in the crowd. Many of those names are problematic in their own right, like Andrew Schulz or Tom Hinchcliffe, but that’s a wider conversation on Endeavor pushing the WWE and combat sports to the right. Travis Scott has long been a fan of pro wrestling and has played a part in WWE in the past, but never at this level. It’s his involvement in what should be the biggest angle this year that is causing so many fans to roll their eyes.

John Cena’s heel turn and eventual retirement don’t need Travis Scott. Cody Rhodes does not need Travis Scott. Jey Uso’s title reign doesn’t need Travis Scott. Even Logan Paul, who comes with his own issues as a highly pushed talent on the WWE roster, does not need Travis Scott. This angle is meant to appeal to “mainstream” fans, much to the chagrin of hardcore viewers, but does it even do that?

Even if this match is booked, Money in the Bank 2025 will be touted as a success. High ticket prices will push gate revenue. Vanity social media metrics will be used to tout fan engagement. Fan and viewer satisfaction are not metrics that matter any longer, so the outcry seen online does not sway creative direction. The business that the WWE is in has changed and this is the reality today.

Travis Scott, Logan Paul, and John Cena versus Cody Rhodes, Jimmy, and Jey Uso is a match that absolutely no one wants to see. But it’s a match that fans may very well get simply because Endeavor’s focus isn’t on professional wrestling or even sports entertainment. The focus is mainstream appeal and generating the most revenue to line the pockets of the powers that be in the company. Nothing more than that.
