IYO SKY is the "ACE" of the WWE women's division
The WWE women’s division is deep. SmackDown, Monday Night Raw, and NXT boast a cupboard that is full of women who can be main event performers on any show. There are superstars with crossover appeal like Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Generational talents like Charlotte Flair. Young performers ready to be the names of the future like Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton. The promotion is rich with talent. But if there’s one woman who would be recognized as the “ACE” of the WWE women’s roster, that is IYO SKY.
It doesn’t matter what promotion is being discussed, Iyo Sky deserves recognition as one of the best professional wrestlers and sports entertainers in the world. She deserved a space in that debate even before joining the WWE in 2018. Her resume is comparable to any other woman who has ever stepped in the ring, regardless of era. Everyone who knows wrestling knows Sky’s a legit pillar of today’s women’s wrestling scene.
Within WWE, she’s an individual who can be counted on to provide entertainment and excitement. She and Belair needed less than 12 minutes to put on a match that is in the running as one of the best on WWE Raw this year. And that’s just one match. Every time Iyo Sky steps into the ring, she puts on a great showcase of her talent. Look back at her 2024 for a slew of fantastic matches against Lyra Valkyria, Naomi, Bayley, and several others. It’s also impossible to overlook her match against Utami Hayashishita at Marigold Summer Destiny. Iyo Sky is putting on a run that should have her on the short list of those considered the best in women’s wrestling this year.
IYO SKY is one of those performers who can be inserted into any situation and business immediately picks up. Random match against Rhea Ripley? It’s going to be a banger. She shows up on SmackDown to take on Nia Jax. Another banger alert. Imagine if she pops up on WWE NXT to take on Perez or Giulia. Again, another must-see match. There’s nothing she can do that would be considered boring or skippable. That’s quite the praise seeing how many thought she’d be overlooked when she returned at SummerSlam a few years ago. She’s exceeded all expectations to how far she’d climb on the main roster.
Much like Hikaru Shida in All Elite Wrestling, Iyo Sky is the woman that WWE can count on to give fans something amazing in the women’s division. She’s earned the praise to be called the “ACE” of the women’s roster and that doesn’t look like it will change any time soon.
