ROH Supercard of Honor 2024 card finalized
Twenty four hours before Supercard of Honor and the main card has been finalized.
Last week, I predicted which matches would get added to the card. I got two out of three right. On Sunday, ROH posted on social media that Dalton Castle would face Johnny TV in a Fight Without Honor match. The next day, AEW made talent cuts, including to ROH. The Boys were two of the talent cut.
The timing was odd because they were part of the storyline with Castle and Johnny. Castle lost The Boys to Johnny and Taya Valkyrie when Johnny defeated him. Last week, Castle held auditions for new Boys after Valkyrie told Castle that his Boys had been eaten by a bear. On Thursday's media call, Tony Khan stated The Tate Twins had no showed work several times.
Another match that I predicted was Cole Karter and Griff Garrison vs. Spanish Announce Project (Serpentico and Angelico). They have been feuding for several weeks now. Maria Kanellis-Bennett has been carrying one of Serpentico's masks around as a trophy.
During a backstage segment, Karter and Garrison couldn't find Kanellis-Bennett. Serpentico walked up and said he'd been eavesdropping and knew where they could find her. He said he'd tell them as soon as one of them signed a piece of paper. Karter grabbed the paper and signed it. Serpentico signed it as well, admitted that he didn't know where she was, and said "see you tomorrow." And by that, he means SAP will see them on Zero Hour.
A tag team match has also been added to Supercard. On episode 58, the show opened with The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) facing The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) in a Proving Ground match. If you need a refresher, the opponent either needs to win or last ten minutes with the champions. If one of those things happens, they get a title shot later.
The Infantry lasted ten minutes. The Undisputed Kingdom now has the (dis)honor of being the first to ever lost a Proving Ground match in ROH's history. You read that correctly. The Infantry called their shot for Friday night.
The only match I got wrong was the Six-Man title match. As of Thursday night, Bullet Club Gold do not have a match on Supercard. If you're keeping track, the Bang Bang Gang still have not appeared on Honor Club in any capacity since winning the titles on Dynamite. Jay White lost to Billy Gunn on this week's Dynamite, so perhaps he doesn't want to show his face in Philly.
Another champion not defending their title is Wheeler Yuta. The PURE Champion has been out with an injury for months. He was supposed to wrestle with Blackpool Combat Club in CMLL last Friday, but he was replaced by Matt Sydal. There has been no mention of the PURE Championship. If Yuta is going to be out longer, they should either vacate the title or have an interim champion.
During Thursday's show, a vignette for Premier Athletes aired. It featured Josh Woods, Tony Nese, and their manager, "Smart" Mark Sterling. Woods was the number one contender for the PURE Championship. Perhaps they have a match with Woods and a few other wrestlers with the winner being crowned as interim champion.
As of Thursday, the only match on Zero Hour is SAP vs. Karter and Garrsion.
