WWE should begin to imagine a world without Roman Reigns because he's already thinking about winding down his storied career.

The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns has been a dominant force in WWE for more than a decade. He’s heading to a record-breaking WrestleMania main event where he’ll face off against Seth Rollins and CM Punk in a vital triple-threat match. Fans should relish this moment because according to Reigns, he has a “year or two max” of in-ring time left on his radar.

“After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max,” Reigns said while speaking to Tom Kludt of Vanity Fair. “Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment.”

Reigns signed his current contract in 2022 and it is set to end after WrestleMania 42 in 2026.

That’s a candid quote from someone who has carried much of the WWE for the last few years. Since his return during COVID and his transformation into the Tribal Chief, it would be hard to argue against the idea of Roman Reigns being the most important performer in professional wrestling. WWE has certainly treated him as such.

A “less physical form of entertainment” points the focus directly toward acting. Reigns would follow in the footsteps of other performers who’ve found success in the area. The Rock and John Cena come to mind first, as they’ve both found a lot of success transitioning into films and television. Even Cody Rhodes and Becky Lynch have popped up outside the ring in recent projects.

Roman Reigns is ready for the silver screen

Reigns wouldn’t be new to the big screen. He played a small role in Hobbs & Shaw alongside The Rock and has an undisclosed role in Good Fortune which will star Keanu Reeves, Keke Palmer, and Seth Rogen.

Making a transition to acting wouldn’t be a surprise. WWE being owned by Endeavor would make that leap all the more possible, seeing how that company is tied to several of the biggest films and personalities in the business.

The big question is how the WWE would respond to losing its biggest star. The promotion has been here before. Hulk Hogan left. The Rock left. Stone Cold Steve Austin left. John Cena is in the process of retiring. This is the cycle that happens in the business. WWE has a stacked roster that includes names like Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Bron Breakker and others who have the potential to become mainstream figures. Endeavor has the influence, connections, and resources to make it happen.

WWE fans, viewers, and the company must prepare itself for a world without Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief himself hinted at being in the ring for two more years after the end of this current contract. When that time comes, there will be a massive hole that someone or some people will have to fill.
