The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is getting a featured match on WrestleMania 41. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez will defend the titles against the winners of an upcoming gauntlet match. This sets the stage for what may be an important return to the women’s division.

The gauntlet match sets the stage for a potential return for Kairi Sane and Asuka, also known as the Kabuki Warriors. Sane and Asuka have been off television for a long time, but there are recent reports that their returns may be imminent. Sane was last seen in December of 2024, while Asuka has been out since May of that same year. Sane missed time due to an arm injury, while Asuka suffered an injury to her knee.

This past week, PWInsider reported that Sane is close to an in-ring return, while PW Nexus reported that Asuka could be back as soon as May. With both ladies close to an in-ring return, there could be a huge surprise planned for the gauntlet match to find Morgan and Rodriguez’s title contenders.

On top of that, the gauntlet match has the potential to feature several women who haven’t been on television in quite some time. For example, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark have not been on television as a team since January 20 when they took on Damage CTRL. Other duos who should be involved include Alba Fyre and Piper Niven, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter, and perhaps Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend.

Fans have long begged WWE to do better with the booking of the women’s division, including those slotted into tag teams. Booking a title match on WrestleMania doesn’t solve everything but is a step in the right direction. The gauntlet match leading into Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez’s title match at WrestleMania creates an opening for a big tag team to return and several others to get necessary time on television.
