WWE does not need Hulk Hogan
WWE has long leveraged the legends to pop a rating and excite fans. Pulling them out of hiding a few times a year to remind lapsed fans that this is the home where all their favorites became their favorites. However, in 2025, WWE doesn’t need to bring back some of those “favorites,” any longer. At the top of that list is Hulk Hogan. He’s no longer needed in all professional wrestling.
On January 4, Fightful Select reported that Hogan could be making some appearances in WWE in the future.
“Fightful Select has learned that Hulk Hogan has been discussed for some upcoming appearances with the company. We’ve not learned of specific dates.”
According to the report, there are plans for Hogan’s “Real American Beer” to be a potential sponsor on the WWE canvas, which would be a massive move for the company when it comes to advertising and sponsorship opportunities. The last time Hogan was on WWE television was in January 2024 for the celebration of Hulkamania, and in 2023 for the 30-year celebration of Monday Night Raw.
Professional wrestling needs to do a better job leaving behind some of its worst actors. No, not the bad actors who can’t deliver a character, but the bad actors whose actions outside the ring bring a black eye to their legacy and the industry. Hogan had several mishaps that made him someone who should not be welcomed back as the industry moved into a new era. He’s the same individual who had no problem expressing his overt racism, and then failed to truly apologize for it. Since then, he’s gone fully to the side of right-wing hatred in all the worst ways possible.
Professional wrestling is an industry that welcomes people across various identities. It’s supposed to be a place that everyone can enjoy. Seeing the WWE being willing to embrace an individual who outright demeans those in some demographics isn’t a good look and one that is very unnecessary.
WWE doesn’t need to bring back Hulk Hogan. He’s no longer the guy who inspired millions to rip off their shirts and take their vitamins. In fact, which was probably not who he really was back then either. It’s time wrestling as a whole did a better job moving away from fallen stars like Hogan and several others.
