WrestleMania season is running wild, but that doesn't mean WWE hasn't taken time to plan for the future. On Friday, the company announced WWE Backlash on May 10th, with two important details revealed. Both John Cena and Randy Orton are announced for the card. Does this man fans will get a huge match for the former's retirement tour? Hopefully, because it has to go down one last time.

John Cena versus Randy Orton was a generational feud. As two of the key members of their "draft" class, Cena and Orton battled for years. According to Cagematch, Orton is the man that Cena has faced the most. They've faced off in 123 singles matches, with Cena taking 100 wins to 23 loses. But that was years ago and it is not quite the situation that both men find themselves in this year.

John Cena vs Randy Orton in 2025 is a huge ordeal

John Cena's heel turn has sent ramifications throughout the wrestling community. After more than two decades as the biggest babyface in wrestling, Cena finally turned his back on his legions of fans. So much so, that several fans have decided to "turn heel" with him.

All the while, Orton is enjoying an amazing run as a major babyface on SmackDown. He's playing up his "Old Man Orton" gimmick in a way that brings a smile to everyone's faces. Even as he's attempting to punt Kevin Owens's head in.

Pitting these two men against each other has to happen in 2025. Cena is hanging up the jorts at the end of the year, and this would be a fantastic match to call back to one last time. It would even be more interesting if Cena defeats Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, finally getting his hands on the 17th title reign and breaking his tie with Ric Flair. What if Orton is the man to retire Cena at the end of the year? As famed NBA star, Kevin Garnett once said, "Anything is possible."

WWE Backlash is going to be a huge card to follow up on what should be an amazing WrestleMania 41. With both John Cena and Randy Orton announced for the show, do not be surprised if we get these to in a classic one-on-one affair that must happen before Cena walks away from wrestling.
