WWE doesn’t shy away from controversy, even when it is in its best interest. Fightful Select reported that “comedian” Tony Hinchcliffe is scheduled for the April 7 edition of Monday Night Raw and he’s someone that viewers may not recognize at first glance, but an individual who was in headlines for the wrong reasons in recent years.

Tony Hinchcliffe is a 40-year-old comedian from Youngstown, Ohio who was recently in headlines for his performance at a Donald Trump rally in 2024. During this set he is the individual who described Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” He didn’t stop there, making more offensive jokes about Latinos. His remarks were widely criticized and the Trump campaign distanced itself from the situation.

That wasn’t the only time he’d been in the spotlight for the wrong reason. In 2021, Hinchcliffe made offensive comments about Peng Dang, and Asian American comedian during an event in Texas. He would be dropped from WME, which is the organization that would eventually become Endeavor and purchase the WWE, merging it into TKO Group Holdings with the UFC.

Hinchcliffe is scheduled to be on commentary during the big match between the War Raiders and The New Day with the WWE World Tag Team Championship on the line. He is there to promote his upcoming WWE Roast.

Since it’s purchase by Endeavor, WWE has started to spotlight more celebrities during its shows. This practice has drawn criticism from fans who would like to see that time dedicated to more performers who struggle to get television time. This is also an interesting situation to watch, as this is the closest step that WWE has taken to show allegiance to US President, Donald Trump.
