In professional wrestling, fans are going to support the names they want to see succeed. It is because of such support, individuals like Bryan Danielson and Kofi Kingston reached such heights with “movements” like the Yes Movement and KofiMania. However, those situations do not always play out the way fans want to see it. Karrion Kross is going to be the next individual to fall into the latter half of that group.

Karrion Kross has become a controversial figure of late. There’s been a groundswell of support for him online, which is accompanied by loud reactions whenever he’s shown on screen.

Still, that has not translated into major opportunities for Kross in the ring or moving up the card. Other than popping up on camera to play the instigator backstage, he’s rarely used in any major angles that see him being leveraged as a bigger star. Fans online continue to show their support, but as time passes, it doesn’t look like that support is going to push him any higher than he currently is today.

At WWE Night of Champion, Karrion Kross took on Sami Zayn in a singles match. This was his ninth singles match of the year, and his tenth match overall. Other than the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal back in April, this is Kross’s second televised match in 2025. He took on AJ Styles on Monday Night Raw back in April. Everything else under the WWE banner has occurred on WWE Main Event. This is a glaring example of WWE pushing back against what the fans want, and it doesn’t seem like it is going to play out in Kross’s favor.

WWE is intent on not pushing Karrion Kross

Karrion Kross fans should recognize where this is going. It has happened in the past. Individuals like LA Knight, Montez Ford, and Dakota Kai are three examples of performers who had major support both online and in live reactions. However, WWE never took that momentum to push any of those names further up the card.

Ford may be one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, but there has been a call for him to get a singles push for years. Kai was a popular member of the women’s division, one who many thought should have won the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. But she’s since been released from the company for the second time. Then there’s LA Knight, who was in a similar situation to Kross. Knight remains over with the fans and is spoken about positively by his peers, but it has become clear that he will never capture a main title on WWE SmackDown or Monday Night Raw.

Karrion Kross was reportedly in contract negotiations with the WWE. Some speculate that the release of new merchandise points toward those negotiations going well. Still, do not expect to see him rise too far up the card. May he will a mid-card championship? Sure. But WWE seems intent on not pushing him the way fans continue to call for both in person and online.
