Here’s what went down on Smackdown 10/30/09:

Video package on Rey Mysterio and Batista’s fallout.

Smackdown GM, Teddy Long, comes down to ringside to address the Mysterio/Batista situation, and the #1 contender situation for the World Title.  He’s interrupted by Chris Jericho who thinks that Teddy Long making Big Show the #1 contender is absolutely ridiculous and he should be the one to face The Undertaker.  He’s interrupted by Kane who says he was co-captain in the match so he’s the one who deserves the #1 contender slot.  Teddy Long makes a match between Jericho and Kane for later tonight.  The winner will be added to the match up at Survivor Series for the World Heavyweight Championship making it a Triple Threat.

Dolph Ziggler defeats John Morrison via count out.

Another video package on what happened between Rey Mysterio and Batista at Bragging Rights.

Backstage: Vince McMahon and Teddy Long are interrupted by CM Punk who is a little pissed that he’s not in the picture for the World Title.  Vince doesn’t put him in the match at Survivor Series, but instead gives him a match against referee, Scott Armstrong.

Beth Phoenix defeats Jenny Brooks via pin fall after hitting the Glam Slam in a squash match!

Matt Hardy defeats Eric Escobar (w/ Vickie Guerrero) via pin fall after hitting a counter neck breaker maneuver (it wasn’t officially the Twist of Fate).

Yet another video package on the Mysterio/Batista conflict!

Rey Mysterio comes out to address the crowd on the situation with Batista and to ask Batista if they could handle this situation like men.  Batista confronts Rey and gives him one opportunity to walk out of HIS ring.  Mysterio refuses because he wants to straighten things out between them because they’re like brothers, and if he would’ve known that being in the Fatal Four Way would’ve caused all this trouble, he never would’ve signed on.  After Rey trying to reason with him, Batista leaves the ring pissed off.  (SEE BELOW FOR LINE OF THE NIGHT)

Backstage: Batista walking through the back and is stopped by Matt Hardy who tries to give some advice about brothers and conflict.  Batista walks away with a smirk, Matt turns his back and gets blindsided by Batista.

Drew McIntyre attacked Finlay as he was entering the ring for their match and progressed to beat the crap out of him on the floor.  The match was thrown out as the referee sent McIntyre to the back immediately.

Cryme Tyme hosts a diva costume contest.  Mickie James (Elektra), Michelle McCool (a naughty devil), Natalya (a bull fighter), Layla (Michael Jackson).  WINNER (as chosen by the crowd): Mickie James.  A mini melee ensues.

CM Punk defeats referee Scott Armstrong via pin fall after hitting Go To Sleep.

Chris Jericho defeats Kane via pin fall after hitting a counter version of The Codebreaker as Kane came flying off the top rope.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Saw a commercial during one of the breaks for the WWE Punjabi Prison playset… Can you say UN-timely advertisement?  The last Punjabi Prison Match was like what two years ago… Good job WWE Marketing Department!

The match up between Beth Phoenix and Jenny Brooks is the first time in a long time I can remember seeing a local DIVA jobber!  It’s nice to see WWE giving a woman an opportunity to get in their ring that’s not in a Diva Search Contest.

I can see why they’re pegging Drew McIntyre as their next big thing.  This guy’s got potential to be a top heel in the business for a long, long time!  The sequence with Finlay was just awesome!  Not everyday you get to see Finlay take a beating.

The costume contest was a total waste of time, at least Mickie James looked sexy as hell!  I can’t believe WWE’s been giving her crap about her being overweight.  She looks just fine to me!

Another waste of time was Punk versus a referee… C’mon!  If you add things up, it was one non-match, two squash matches, and a costume contest… that’s time from my life that I want back!

LINE OF THE NIGHT:
Rey: Think about all we’ve been through.. Look at all the times…  Look at Eddie, man…
Batista: EDDIE’S DEAD!
Can you say a little harsh?!?  WOW!!!
