ECW on Syfy – 11/3/09

Here’s the rundown for ECW on Syfy for 11/3/09:

Video Package: Last week’s main event between Christian and Yoshi Tatsu, and the attack that took place afterwards by William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson, and Vladimir Kozlov.

Christian comes down to ring side and calls out William Regal… Just as Christian starts to head to the back to find him, ECW GM, Tiffany comes to the ring.  She apologizes to Christian for the attack.  Christian tells her, he doesn’t care anymore, he wants Regal in the ring.

• William Regal and his goons come to the entrance ramp, and tries to goat Christian into a ECW Title match, who is willing to oblige, but for some reason Regal turns it down unless he has it on his terms… next week in front of his people, in England!
• Tiffany tells Regal his match for tonight, is next… Christian blindsides him with a dropkick.

William Regal defeats Goldust via pin fall after hitting the Knee Trembler to the side of Goldust’s head.

Backstage: Zack Ryder meets Rosa Mendez for the first time and it looks like he’s got eyes for her.

Rosa Mendez is the guest ring announcer for the next match.

Shelton Benjamin defeats Zack Ryder via pin fall after hitting Paydirt.  Throughout the match, Ryder kept paying attention to Rosa Mendez sitting ringside and it cost him

Paul Burchill and Katie Lea come out to ring side to call out The Hurricane.  Burchill tells The Hurricane that Halloween’s over, and that he thinks he’s a fraud!  He has a proposal to finish this once and for all.  One match.  If Burchill wins, Hurricane unmasks!  If The Hurricane wins, both Burchill’s will leave ECW!  The Hurricane accepts the match.

Backstage: Abraham Washington talking to Tony Atlas about how he lost his Rent-a-Center deposit because William Regal destroyed his set last week.  As they get to GM Tiffany’s door, they’re met by ECW’s newest superstar, Vance Archer who says nothing and walks away.

Vance Archer defeats Logan Jones via pin fall after hitting a reverse DDT in a squash match.

Tag Team Main Event
Christian and Yoshi Tatsu defeat Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov via pin fall after Christian hit the Killswitch on Kozlov.  After the match William Regal came out to ring side.  He and the goons beat the crap out of Christian.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

What’s with all the angles lately with wrestlers being interested in the divas?  Yes the divas are hot, but come on!  You’ve got a similar angle on Raw with Eve Torres and Jack Swagger.  WWE Creative team, you get paid fairly well I’d bet, come up with different story lines!

I think Paul Burchill was more entertaining as a goofy ass pirate!  He’s got less charisma now than ever!  At least when he comes down to ringside he brings Katie Lea with him, so it’s not a total loss.

The newest ECW superstar, Vance Archer, is none other than former TNA mid carder, Lance Hoyt aka Lance Rock from the Rock ‘N Rave Infection.  I heard about him being signed to Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE’s minor league promotion, but didn’t really know much other than that.  Holy crap!  I first saw him and he looked familiar, and freak chance I found out that it was Hoyt.  Look at the difference between TNA and now:

The main event was decent.  I just hate to see so many matches end up with a post match beat down.  It’s too much use of cheap heat on the part of the creative team.  The heels get more heat with it yes, but it ALWAYS happens!  Enough is enough!
