Here’s what went down on TNA Impact for 11/5/09:

Video Package: Hulk Hogan media blitz from different shows he’s appeared on this week.

Video Package: TNA team meeting.  President Dixie Carter talks to her troops.  Says change is different, but we can get through it together.  Wants people to support this decision or find another place to work.

AJ Styles addresses the Hogan signing to the crowd.  He also claims that he’s a fighting champion so whoever attacked him, friend or foe, to step up and face him in the ring.

  • Daniels comes out a little pissed… doesn’t like that AJ still thinks he might’ve attacked him.  Calls AJ spoiled and says he was handed more opportunities to succeed.
  • Interrupted by Samoa Joe who says that Daniels is lying to AJ about the attacks, and is jealous of his successes.
  • Daniels still pissed says he can beat AJ in the ring, and AJ calls his bluff.  Match later tonight!

Beer Money Inc. defeat Eric Young and Big Rob via pin fall after Young tried to hit Robert Roode with a chair and accidentally hit Big Rob.  After the match, World Elite came out to beat down Beer Money.  While walking to the back, the Motor City Machine Guns target an attack on the British Invasion who they face for the TNA Tag Titles at Turning Point PPV.

Backstage: The Beautiful People are going to shoot part two of their “Meanest Girls” segments.  They’re looking for Taylor Wilde and Sarita, but they find ODB in the makeup room instead.  All sides make cracks at each other, but it ends up with ODB being placed inside a garment bag.

Backstage: Lauren interviews “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, and he’s excited for Hulk Hogan’s signing that he’s going to have a Black Machismo Invitational where he’s inviting wrestling legends to get in the ring with him.

Backstage: Jeremy Borash talks to Mick Foley about the situation with Abyss, and Foley tells JB that he’s got something for Abyss and the whole world will see what it is soon.

Desmond Wolfe defeats Cody Deaner via pin fall off a Lariat in about four seconds.  After the match Wolfe addresses the crowd and says that if Kurt Angle wants another shot at him, he’s willing to oblige.  We also find out from Angle on the phone that he has a damaged larynx and a pinched nerve from the lariat he took last week from Wolfe.

Backstage: Lauren is with Suicide who answers that he’s NOT ready to unmask yet after the previous incident with Homicide where he unmasked him in the back (we never saw it).  He says he’ll strike Homicide down!

Backstage: Lauren talks to Team 3DBrother Ray says that Dixie Carter has “the biggest set of grapefruits in pro wrestling” when it comes to signing Hulk Hogan.  Rhino interrupts the interview with more of his conspiracy theories about TNA being against the veterans.  Team 3D still says he’s nuts!

Daniels versus AJ Styles looks like it’s going to happen, but before AJ can come out to the ring, he’s jumped.  Daniels is already in the ring, so it CAN’T be him, but he gets attacked from behind by Samoa Joe.

Tara defeats Hamada via pin fall after hitting the Widow’s Peak.  After the match, Awesome Kong comes down to ringside to attack Tara, but gets hit with a cross body off the top rope from Tara.  Security intervenes.

Backstage: Lauren grabs Tara after her altercation with Kong.  Tara’s pissed and is looking forward to Turning Point where Kong is locked in the Six Sides of Steel with HER!

Mick Foley comes down to the ring, and invites Abyss to join him.  Says he’s felt guilty about calling Abyss a carbon copy of him, and that he needed to see for himself if Abyss was as good as him.  Turns out Foley feels Abyss is better than he thought.  He gives Abyss a gift, a caricature of them together.  As he walks up the ramp, he lets us in on a match for next week, Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie.  If Abyss pins Stevie, he’s gone from TNA!

Backstage: JB’s with Scott Steiner who talks about his nWo days with Hulk Hogan, then cuts the same promo from last week about Bobby Lashley and his wife, Krystal.

Video Package: What does Hulk Hogan’s arrival in TNA mean to you?  Matt Morgan answers that this is HUGE!  Then admits to being a huge Hulkamania as a kid!

Bobby Lashley defeats Homicide via pin fall after hitting a choke slam.  After the match Homicide tries to jump Lashley to no avail, but during the altercation, cameras backstage capture Steiner trying to feel up Krystal Lashley.  Bobby runs backstage to beat down Steiner.

Back to the ring, Homicide knocks down referee, Earl Hebner, and Amazing Red comes out to attack him.

Mike Tenay and Taz rundown the lineup for Turning Point.

Taylor Wilde defeats Madison Rayne via pin fall after a roll-up.  After the match, The Beautiful People come out to beat down Wilde.  Sarita tries to come save the day, but the numbers game gets the best of her.  ODB then comes out to clean house, but The Beautiful People bail.

Backstage: Lauren talks to Hernandez and Matt Morgan about Rhino’s conspiracy theories.  They say that they’re the future of the business, and they’re here to compete and win!

AJ Styles defeats Daniels via pin fall after hitting the Styles Clash.  After the match, guest referee, Samoa Joe, attacks AJ Styles with a rear naked choke.

Video Package: What does Hulk Hogan’s arrival in TNA mean to you?  Hernandez answers that it’s going to be great exposure for TNA!

Backstage: Lauren is with Dr. Stevie and Daffney.  Stevie responds to the match with Abyss next week and he can’t wait to show Abyss what he has in store for him!

Tag Team Main Event
Matt Morgan and Hernandez defeat Team 3D via disqualification.  During the match Rhino came down to the ring to give Brother Ray a chair.  He gets pissed and knocks Rhino down.  Moments later he grabs the chair, gets in the ring and blasts both Hernandez and Matt Morgan with it as they’re working over Brother Devon‘s leg.  After he realizes what he’s done, Ray looks like he’s about to be sick!  Rhino thinks he’s won them over, and gores both Hernandez and Morgan.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Well, so much for the mental aspect of Samoa Joe trying to mess with AJ and Daniels.  Now his mind games have resulted in two attacks from behind on both of his opponents at Turning Point.  We also know that it WAS NOT Daniels who jumped AJ in recent weeks.  We saw nothing this time of who it was as AJ’s attacker was wearing black from head to toe including a hooded sweatshirt to hide his face.

It’s nice to see the Black Machismo character actually be relevant in some way.  With Hogan coming to town, he’s already making comments about how they’ve been on the same side and on opposite sides as well.  I really don’t know which “legend” is going to be coming to participate in his invitational, maybe someone Hogan’s bringing in, but I have a feeling it’ll probably be some joke kind of segment.

WE FINALLY GET TO SEE IT!!!  Kong versus Tara.  One on one.  In a steel cage!!!  I’m excited as hell to see it!  Two of wrestling’s most dominant females finally get to lock horns!

I have a feeling like Dr. Stevie’s not going anywhere.  I read on one of the dirt sheets that a famous ECW legend was back stage for the taping, and my gut tells me this is where he’s going to make an appearance.

The main event was something I NEVER saw coming.  I didn’t really think that Brother Ray would play into Rhino’s conspiracy theories and attack their opponents with a chair.  My first instinct was that they would get screwed over in another match and get pissed.  This was a total swerve to me, and to play it off like they’re remorseful about it could play well for the story line too.  It’s going to give them heat with Morgan and Hernandez, maybe eventually starting a mini war between the young guns and the tag team legends.
