Here’s what you missed from Friday Night Smackdown this week:
Video Package: Two weeks in a row, Batista has attacked The Undertaker with a steel chair.
Batista comes to the ring to talk about some things.
- “I did not ask for my match tonight with Rey Mysterio. He doesn’t belong in the same ring as me!”
- “It seems like I’ve been getting booed a lot lately, but I don’t care! I was born to be World Champion!”
- “Me beating the Undertaker is just a formality!”
CM Punk & Luke Gallows vs. R-Truth & Matt Hardy
WINNERS: Punk & Gallows via pin fall. Gallows hit the 12th Step on Hardy.
- Before the match began, Punk went on a rant about the Jeff Hardy DVD saying that any parent who buys it for their kids are horrible. R-Truth & Hardy come out and begin handing free copies to the crowd.
Backstage: Eric Escobar & Vickie Guerrero are arguing in Spanish. Teddy Long asks what they said.
- Escobar translates, “People thought she was my mother, but my mother is not the size of Texas!”
- A pissed off Guerrero makes a match between Escobar and Chris Jericho.
Backstage: Kane runs into Mike Knox. Knox tells Kane, “You and I are the same. We’re monsters that no one understands, and I enjoyed facing you last week!”
- Kane replies, “There is only one monster here, and I enjoyed facing you last week because I won!”
Eric Escobar vs. Chris Jericho match begins
- Vickie Guerrero comes out and tells him, “I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you your match was a handicap match. Out walks Big Show.
Eric Escobar vs. JeriShow
WINNER(S): JeriShow via submission due to the Walls of Jericho.
- After the match, Jericho tells the crowd, “We guarantee the end of DX and the demise of the DX Army at TLC!”
Drew McIntyre comes to the ring. “I was signed by the chairman of the board, proclaimed the future World Champion, and yet I’m NOT on the cover of his publication (WWE Magazine), and John Morrison is. You’ve got to be joking me!??!”
- Interrupted by bagpipes playing. Out walks Morrison dressed like Scottish Legend, William Wallace (Braveheart character), and when he grabs a mic he tries to talk in a Scottish accent. They jaw back and forth about the joke, their match at TLC, and eventually they come to blows.

Kane vs. Mike Knox
WINNER: Kane via pin fall after hitting a choke slam.

Mickie James & Maria vs. Michelle McCool & Layla
WINNERS: Mickie James & Maria via roll up pin fall on Layla by Mickie.
Matt Striker & Todd Grisham run down the card for the TLC PPV.
Rey Mysterio vs. Batista – Street Fight
WINNER: Batista via pin fall after just manhandling Rey.
- After match, Batista wraps a chair around Mysterio’s head and goes up to the middle rope. LIGHTS OUT/LIGHTS ON. The Undertaker is mid ring where Mysterio was and he attacks Batista. Batista decides to bail out.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
The sequence where Matt Hardy and R-Truth were passing out Jeff Hardy DVDs was funny. Mainly because in the process, CM Punk was still on the mic saying, “No don’t take that!” and “You’re practically drug dealers for peddling that poison!”
Quote of the night – Matt Striker, “Hey I caught Mickie’s hat… smells like bacon bits!” WOW! That’s a joke that’s just in poor taste! Boo!
Mysterio & Batista’s match was so one sided that you knew either he was going to end Rey’s career or The Undertaker was going to attack him and he almost did both.
