ECW on Syfy – 12/15/09

Didn’t catch ECW this week?  Well here’s what you missed:

Video Package:  This week, there’s a special guest on ECW, “The Big Red Monster” Kane!

ECW General Manager, Tiffany, is in the ring.  She brings both Shelton Benjamin & the ECW Champion, Christian to the ring to tell them that their Ladder match was awesome and to say “thank you!”

• Benjamin says thank you to the crowd for inspiring him.  Also says thank you to Christian for a high point in his career.  Then says, “let’s do it again!”
• Tiffany sounds like she’s going to tell Benjamin, “You can, if…” When she’s interrupted by William Regal and his goons, who says “there’s a bigger issue at hand… Kane… Have you gone bloody mental by bringing him back on this show?”
• Tiffany says, “I’ve invited him here to unveil a new concept.  Over the course of the next few weeks former ECW Superstars will be returning to face current ECW Superstars, for something called the ECW Homecoming.  Winner will face Christian at the Royal Rumble, and it starts tonight!”  She then announces the first two matches: Kane vs. Zack Ryder and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Ezekiel Jackson.

WINNER: The Hurricane via pin fall after hitting a Shining Wizard.  Mid match, he unmasked the Ripper showing that it really was Paul Burchill.

Backstage: Paul & Katie Lea Burchill are walking through the halls when they’re approached by Gregory Helms who asks, “So Paul, how’d that work out for you?”  Paul Burchill lets out a scream!

Tony Atlas introduces us to the Abraham Washington Show and our host, Abraham Washington.

• Abe says, “I would like to report a crime!  I just wanted to let you know that Abraham Washington was robbed for Break Out star of the year… hell, I could’ve won tag team of the year by myself!”  Atlas shoots back, “You could’ve won Diva of the year too!”
• Abe then introduces his guest, Diva of the Year, Maria.  Abe shows the footage of Batista interrupting her acceptance speech last night at the Slammys.
• Maria teases Abe asking him if he wants to hold her Slammy… she thinks twice and says, “maybe next year when you win one!”

Vladimir Kozlov with William Regal vs. Ezekiel Jackson
WINNER: Ezekiel Jackson via pin fall after William Regal hooked the leg of Kozlov allowing Jackson to hit a Eurinagi.

• After match, William Regal raises the hand of Jackson.  Kozlov then tries to attack Regal, but gets double teamed.

Backstage: Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft are playing Smackdown vs. RAW 2010.  They beat DX in the game, and say, “If beating DX is this easy, I feel bad for the guys we’re facing tonight.”

Backstage: Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu are talking when they’re approached by Kane.  Tatsu spouts something off in Japanese and Goldust makes a random noise.  Kane says to himself, “and they say I’m a freak!”

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Holy crap!  The Ripper was unmasked and it was Paul Burchill!  What a shocker?!?!?  (That’s sarcasm!)

Abraham Washington keeps getting weekly doses of his own medicine lately.  It seems as if the show’s format is changing to Abe makes a joke and the guest makes a better joke on Abe… It’s actually starting to get amusing.  I still don’t think there should be a talk segment on an hour show though!

They gave Barreta & Croft new theme music, and it’s a little more rocking than the dumb crap they had before!  Maybe someone from WWE read my blog from last week!
