TNA Destination X – Preview/Predictions
Tonight TNA presents it’s Destination X PPV live! There are nine big bouts on the card, so let’s get right into the preview and predictions:
TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
AJ Styles (Champion) vs. Abyss
SHOULD: Styles WILL: Styles
- Over the course of the last month, Abyss was given Hulk Hogan‘s Hall of Fame ring, and has found new strength in himself, which he attributes to Hulkamania flowing through him. Styles has been mentored by “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and has taken it to a new level that we’ve never really seen AJ go as a heel. When it comes to the match up, I think that Styles will retain his title, and maybe, just maybe we’ll see them steal that HOF ring.
THE ULTIMATE X MATCH – To determine #1 Tag Team Division Challengers
Generation Me vs. Motor City Machine Guns
SHOULD: Guns WILL: Gen Me
- Maybe it’s just me but I just have this feeling like Gen Me is going to get the nod tonight. This “rivalry” hasn’t really been on the forefront of TNA broadcasts, but has subtly been shown in the midcard. I’ve also heard that Alex Shelly has been hurt off and on over the course of the last few months, and that’s the reason why this PPV match up was pushed back to now. Is he 100% is the key question to ask. Both of these teams are exciting to watch, and it would make more sense for the Guns to get the victory because of the amount of time they’ve been waiting for their opportunity, but like I said, just a gut feeling tells me that the “Buck stops here!”
TNA GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Big Rob Terry (Champion) vs. Brutus Magnus
SHOULD: Magnus WILL: Terry
- Let me express my displeasure with this match up. Rob Terry sucks in the ring. He’s a muscle head and I don’t know why TNA even put the strap on him. The TNA Global Title is a garbage, throw away title that NO ONE cares about. If they’re going to take this title seriously, then they should put it on Magnus because he can talk on the mic and get heat from the fans, but I think that TNA is going to draw out this downfall of The British Invasion for a little while longer. Terry retains.
X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Doug Williams (Champion) vs. Shannon Moore
SHOULD: Williams WILL: Moore
- Shannon Moore arrived on the scene not too long ago as a surprise on Impact from Eric Bischoff. Williams was supposed to face someone else at this PPV, but that match took place on Impact moments before Bischoff made this match up. If you’ve read my previous blog on Doug Williams, I have faith that he could continue to be a good champion if they let him run his course. I think in this one though we’re going to see a new X Division Champion in Shannon Moore.
TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Matt Morgan & Hernandez (Champions) vs. Beer Money Inc.
SHOULD: Beer Money WILL: Beer Money
- Over the last few weeks we’ve seen two different paths from these two teams. Beer Money has reemerged as a force in the tag team division showing that they’re willing to do what is asked of them to get back the titles. On the other hand, Morgan & Hernandez have had some difficulties with being on the same page. I can possibly see this tag team match almost turning into a two (or three) on one when Matt Morgan turns on his partner as Beer Money wins the Tag Team Titles.
CHALLENGE MATCH
Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle
SHOULD: Anderson WILL: Anderson
- The rivalry between Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson has gotten very intense. Blood has been shed and the honor of the US Military was called into question. Mr. Anderson has gone way too far and Kurt Angle wants revenge. However, I think that Anderson will somehow get the best of Angle tonight and this will continue on and finish in a steel cage at Lockdown.
KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Tara (Champion) vs. Daffney
SHOULD: Daffney WILL: Daffney
- There has been no real match build up for this contest, but Daffney has made her presence felt by attacking the Knockouts champion at different points over the past month. Daffney must keep her emotions in check and not get DQ’d, otherwise she will NOT walk away with the title. I can see a possible outside interference/distraction by Dr. Stevie to allow Daffney to use a foreign object and get the win.
TNA CONTRACT – OR LEAVE THE COMPANY FOR GOOD
Eric Young & Kevin Nash vs. Scott Hall & Sean Waltman
SHOULD: Young & Nash WILL: Young & Nash
- We’ve all heard the NWO say that they’re “for life,” but when it comes to The Band in TNA, I think this has run it’s course. Hall is a fat piece of crap and can’t really do too much around the ring. Waltman still looks like he’s in ring shape, but you can’t take one without the other in this match. If TNA is smart, they’ll part ways. Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff said on TV that they want to make history, and you can’t do that when you have the past clinging on to your leg. Young & Nash win in a brutal match!
LADDER MATCH
Kazarian vs. Daniels vs. Amazing Red vs. Brian Kendrick
SHOULD: Amazing Red WILL: Kazarian
- When it comes to this match, I don’t really get why it’s on the card other than to be an exciting spot fest. There’s no real story line for it other than who’s a future X Division Title contender. It won’t disappoint the fans. I fully expect a few “holy shit” chants in this one because all of these four competitors can fly. I think though that Kazarian’s big comeback is a signal that he’s going to be getting the next push for the title. I think he survives.
TNA’s Destination X PPV starts at 5pm on the west coast. Check back here tomorrow for results and thoughts!
