Smackdown – 3/26/10
In the final TV broadcast before WrestleMania, who from the Smackdown roster will go into “The Showcase of the Immortals” with all the momentum? Find out here:
RAW vs. Smackdown Tag Team Match
Team Smackdown (Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin & Drew McIntyre) vs. Team RAW (Evan Bourne, MVP, Christian, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston)
WINNERS: Team Smackdown via pin fall after McIntyre hit the Future Shock DDT on Christian
- After the match, McIntyre grabbed a ladder and tried to climb up to grab the MITB prop case from the rafters. However, everyone came back to the ring and dropped him off the ladder and then dropped the ladder on him!
Video Package: A look at WWE Axxess and the WWE Universe having some fun during WrestleMania week.
Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler from WWE Axxess preview some things for WrestleMania.
Backstage: Josh Matthews is with The Miz & Big Show (ShoMiz). They’re absolutely confident that this weekend they’re going to defeat John Morrison & R-Truth.
Handicap Match
Beth Phoenix vs. Vickie Guerrero, Michelle McCool, Layla, Maryse & Alicia Fox
WINNER(S): Vickie and her team via pin fall
- This match was supposed to be one on one, Vickie vs. Beth, but was changed before the bell.
- Vickie’s only time in the ring was when she got the pin.
- After the match, she looks like she’s going to Frog Splash Beth while the other divas are holding her down, but the face divas save the day, and Beth gets up and gets her hands on Vickie, ripping her pants off… (BARF!) showing “Excuse Me!” on her underpants!
Chris Jericho comes to the ring, “This Sunday, WrestleMania, the biggest show of the year… I am going to beat Edge and retain the World Heavyweight Championship. I have to hand it to Edge though… his tenacity is second to none. There’s never been another superstar to come back from so many injuries… he has every tool to beat Chris Jericho, except for one thing, DNA. The genetic instructions that make up every living organism on this planet. My DNA is superior to yours, to Edge’s. It’s my DNA that has made me the World Champion, and the greatest performer of my generation! Edge’s inferior DNA does not match up to mine. He’s inferior, a reject. Edge’s is defective like every one of you… At WrestleMania, I’m going to take advantage of his Achilles not being healed. I’m going to end his career! When the match is done, and you (Edge) are lying motionless in the ring and you’re wondering what happened, don’t blame yourself, and don’t blame me. Blame your defective DNA.
- Edge comes bolting out to the ring and a fight breaks out. Edge goes for a Spear, but Jericho gets out of the way just in time. Jericho, however, forgot his belt in the ring. Edge grabs it and panders to the crowd.
Video Package: Earlier in the year, WWE had a WrestleMania Reading Challenge to try to get youth to read more!
Video Package: More from Axxess including seeing the charred limo from Vince McMahon‘s “fake death” and memorabilia from the Hart Dungeon.
- Cole and King then introduce a package about Vince vs. Bret Hart.
Video Package: More from Axxess including WrestleMania INK (Temporary Tattoos), and Memorabilia Lane.
Big Show with The Miz vs. R-Truth with John Morrison
WINNER: Big Show via DQ after Morrison got involved in the match up
- After the match, Morrison and Truth took advantage of both Miz and Show.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
The only thing that sucks about WrestleMania week is that they have to promote, promote, promote. There were only three matches on the card and the majority of the broadcast was commercials and promos for the PPV this Sunday. I guess if you’ve missed things or are just getting back into wrestling, they have to drive home the matches for WrestleMania, but for a fan like me who DVRs every thing, I really don’t need to be hounded about the match ups any more.
I really wish the economy was better and I had some extra spending cash because I would’ve loved to have gone to WrestleMania. The fan Axxess looks like it would be a fun time. Then again, I know I would also get to go to Ring of Honor and Dragon Gate USA shows. Those two indy promotions followed WWE to Phoenix to capitalize on the fans being in one place. Smart thinking!
