TNA’s Victory Road is in the books, and we have two new champions on the tops of their respective mountains.  Who was it you ask?  Well, your answers are all right here:

Ultimate X/Submission Match – X-Division Title
Doug Williams (Champion) vs. Brian Kendrick
WINNER: Williams via submission due to ref stoppage (Kendrick’s hand dropped 3x)

Brother Ray vs. Jesse Neal vs. Brother Devon
WINNER: Brother Ray via pin fall after hitting Jesse with the Bubba Bomb

  • Mid match, after Devon didn’t make it to the ring from intros, we see that there’s a 2×4 blocking his locker room door.
  • Mid match, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Rhino & Stevie Richards sit down in the crowd to watch the contest.
  • Mid match, Shannon Moore runs down to the ring to help his tag team partner Jesse Neal, but it back fires as Ray uses the opportunity to clock Neal with a chair while ref’s back was turned.
  • Late in match, Devon finally gets to the ring.  He and Ray go nose to nose and it looks like they’re going to work together till Ray tries attacking Devon.

Knockout’s Title vs. Career
Madison Rayne (Champion) vs. Angelina Love
WINNER: Love via DQ after a chick on a motorcycle came down to ring side; Declared the NEW TNA Knockout’s Champion

  • Per stipulation of match, if one of The Beautiful People came to help Madison, she’d be instantly DQ’d and belt would be awarded to Love.  We NEVER actually saw the woman’s face because she was wearing a helmet with a dark visor.

AJ Styles & Kazarian vs. To Be Announced (Samoa Joe & Rob Terry)
WINNERS: Styles/Kaz via pin fall after a plethora of springboard moves on Terry

  • Mid match, Desmond Wolfe comes out to the ring to get involved in the match up.
  • Post match, Samoa Joe beats up Desmond capped by the Muscle Buster.

Steel Cage Match
Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez
WINNER: Hernandez via escape through cage door

  • Mid match, Morgan handcuffed Hernandez, but used a pair of cheap ones because Hernandez broke them and plowed through cage door as Morgan was on top of cage.

Jay Lethal vs. Ric Flair
WINNER: Lethal via submission after locking on the Figure Four Leg Lock

  • Post match, Lethal takes the mic and says, “Hey Mom, I did it!”

Tag Team Title Match – VACANT
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money Inc.
WINNERS: Guns via pin fall after hitting a Neck Breaker/Splash Combo to become the NEW TNA World Tag Team Champions

  • Mid match, referee had beer spit into his eyes.  Second ref comes down and eventually there’s a double pin fall because of the two refs.  Match restarted.

Kurt Angle vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero
WINNER: Angle via submission due to the Ankle Lock

TNA World Heavyweight Title
Rob Van Dam (Champion) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss vs. Mr. Anderson
WINNER: RVD via pin fall after hitting the Five Star Frog Splash on everyone (dog pile)

  • Post match, Abyss went after RVD with his new nail 2×4 club, but misses and RVD bails out.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

From the look when I first saw the complete card I was excited, but in the grand scheme of the show, it didn’t live up to the potential.  The first three matches weren’t very entertaining at all.

The Styles/Kaz tag match was good, but the Guns/Beer Money tag match was probably match of the night.  Hella exciting, and I went bonkers when the Guns finally won the Tag Team Titles.

Lethal/Flair wasn’t bad.  I’m shocked Flair can do as much in the ring as he did.  It’s almost poetic that Lethal won via Flair’s signature move.  I just could only imagine what Flair’s promo on Thursday is going to be like considering he threw a hissy fit after he lost the match.

The Angle/Dinero match was solid, but not as exciting as I hoped it would be.  Considering “Pope” is coming back off an injury, he did pretty good.

The World Title match was just okay for me.  The finish was ridiculous as Hardy hit Twist of Fate & Swanton on Anderson.  Abyss choke slammed Hardy onto Anderson.  Then as Abyss goes for the pin, RVD hits the Five Star Frog Splash on all three men to get the victory.

If I wasn’t so excited for this PPV going into it, I think it would’ve registered as a solid show, but because of my lofty expectations, it was just average.  TNA has to step their game up or else they’re going to start losing fans.  I don’t know how many PPV buys they get, but I’m sure that many were disappointed shelling out cash for this one.
