Ring of Honor wrestling is back on HDNet, and last night’s edition boasted a few great tag teams, and a singles main event between two veteran members of the ROH roster.  Read on and find out all the results:

Video Package: A look at the Kings of Wrestling & Briscoe Bros. rivalry over the past few months.

Shane Hagadorn leads the Kings of Wrestling, Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli, to the ring.  Shane takes the mic and tells them and the fans in attendance at The Arena that he’s hand picked three teams to square off against the Kings so that they can prove their dominance.

Gauntlet Match

  1. Kings of Wrestling vs. Josh Emanuel & Ice Jackson
WINNERS: KOW via pin fall after a slingshot to a roaring elbow
  2. Kings of Wrestling vs. Adam Cole & Nick Westgate
WINNERS: KOW via pin fall after hitting the KRS-1
  3. Kings of Wrestling vs. The Ninjas (revealed to be the Briscoe Bros.)
WINNERS: Briscoes via pin fall after hitting the Doomsday Device

Backstage: Kyle Durden is with Christopher Daniels and he asks about the main event match later tonight against Roderick Strong.  Daniels doesn’t know what’s gotten into Strong, but he’s glad that Strong has the guts to issue a challenge to him because it’s just another opportunity to prove that he’s the best in the world.

Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis) vs. American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) with Shane Hagadorn
WINNERS: No Contest after The Embassy runs in to beat down DCFC

  • Post match melee breaks out and “Skullkrusher” Rasche Brown comes out to help DCFC.

Video Package: Roderick Strong is frustrated with ROH management, and now because of circumstances, his path has now crossed with Christopher Daniels.

Pick Six Contender Series Match
Christopher Daniels vs. Roderick Strong with Truth Martini
WINNER: Strong via pin fall after hitting a big boot

  • Mid match, when ref’s back was turned, Truth Martini hit Daniels in the head with his “Book of Truth,” leading to Strong’s victory.

Video Package: The Briscoes and the Kings of Wrestling will square off next week in singles action.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Opening gauntlet type match with the Kings of Wrestling were essentially two job matches, and then an blatantly obvious trick by the Briscoes.  As soon as I saw the masked wrestlers coming out, I knew it was the Briscoes under the ninja hoods.  They pretty much dominated the “match” and scored the victory with ease over an already tired Kings.

Yet again, another tag team match ruined by a run in.  I cannot understand why it seems like ROH does this constantly.  Matches are going well, and as we’re really getting into it, the match is just abruptly stopped because they feel like certain story lines need to take precedent over the actual match up.  ARGH!!!  It’s just irritating to me that this happens as often as it does.

Main event was good, and the cheating factor in the match helps slide Strong over more into the heel category and out of the “whiny-bitch” category.  I’m sure that this is going to be a running theme now in Strong’s matches since he now has Truth Martini in his corner, and it’ll eventually get him back into the ROH World Title picture.
