Ring of Honor – 8/2/10

Last night on Ring of Honor on HDNet, the Briscoe Bros. couldn’t officially tag team against the Kings of Wrestling, so the next best thing is a double main event with all four competitors in singles action.  Would the Briscoes get the best of the ROH Tag Team Champions, or would Kings reign supreme?  Find out right here:

Video Package: Last week, Kings of Wrestling trying to run a tag team gauntlet against jobbers when the Briscoes come out dressed as ninjas.  They remove masks to show true identity and beat the Kings.

Backstage: Kyle Durden is with the Briscoes who are pumped up after last week and since the Kings are too scared to face them in tag team action, the next best thing is to beat them down in singles.

Eddie Edwards & Shane Hagadorn are in the ring and Edwards announces another edition of the 10 Minute Hunt to find a worthy TV Title competitor.

Video Package: Austin Aries attacks Delirious injuring his throat.

Backstage: Kyle Durden is with “Skullkrusher” Rasche Brown who responds to Durden about next week’s match between he and Necro Butcher.  Brown says, “You pissed off the biggest, baddest, badass, black man on the planet, and pain is coming!”

Austin Aries comes to the ring before his match with Delirious and has a doctor’s note saying that he cannot compete tonight, but he has a replacement all picked out.

• Post match, Delirious gets King out of the way and tries to go after Aries again to no avail.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Tonight was a damn good show!  They were able to get four full length matches and a job match into an hour show and it didn’t really feel all that rushed.  Kudos to ROH for putting on a good showing tonight.

Tag team match with DCFC was predictable since Daivari & Osiris don’t normally tag together.  Good to see that maybe the DCFC might get a title shot in the near future if they win the Tag War Tournament.

The singles matches were pretty good too.  The rivalry between Delirious/Aries will eventually come to a point where Delirious will just utterly embarrass Aries… I really am looking forward to it too.  The co-main events were pretty good coming from guys that are normally tag team wrestlers.  I’m wondering if now the Briscoes will get their shot at the Kings in tag team action since they’ve beaten them in singles competition?  I’m sure the Kings are going to try to dodge them again.
