TNA Impact – 8/5/10
On the last edition of TNA Impact before the Hardcore Justice PPV, what other names might be brought to the card, and why did Raven attack Tommy Dreamer last week? Find out what happened right here:
Video Package: Last week, Hulk Hogan can’t wait to see EV2.0 do their thing at Hardcore Justice.
- Abyss says that THEY blame Dixie Carter and hold her responsible for EV2.0 coming back.
- Tommy Dreamer vs. Abyss – Abyss wins and then Raven turns on Dreamer.
Tommy Dreamer to the ring, calls out Raven who comes to the ramp. Asks Raven directly why he attacked him when they were so tight.
- Raven responds that he’s still pissed at Tommy for stealing his girl and marrying her. Raven believes that she should be his wife and Tommy’s kids should be his… Dreamer pissed off, attacks him.
- Abyss comes out from the back to attack Dreamer. Rob Van Dam runs out with a chair and attacks Abyss, and they make their way from view. Raven meanwhile hits Dreamer with DDT on ramp.
- While Raven is posing, Mick Foley sneaks up behind Raven and when he turns around gets cracked with a barb wire bat. Foley has a mic and tells Raven that he’ll be the guest referee in their match at Hardcore Justice.
Knockout Tag Team Titles
Lacey Von Erich & Velvet Sky (Champions) vs. Taylor Wilde & Hamada
WINNERS: Wilde/Hamada via pin fall after Wilde kicks LVE through a chair (NEW CHAMPIONS!)
- Mid match, Madison Rayne to the stage, and biker chick to ringside. Biker hands LVE the chair that caused their demise.
TV (Global) Title Match
AJ Styles (Champion) with Kazarian vs. Rob Terry
WINNER: Styles via pin fall after hitting a springboard 450 splash
- Before match, referee throws Kaz out of the ringside area.
Video Package: Kurt Angle talks about his decision to fight from the bottom up the ranks of the Top 10. Highlights of him over the past few weeks.
Video Package: Earlier, Jay Lethal talking about how surreal it was to beat Ric Flair with his own finishing move. Says he got some advice from Kurt Angle earlier and he’s going to be leaving the boy at home, and bringing Jay Lethal the man to tonight’s Street Fight.
Video Package: Abyss vs. RVD next week on Impact for the TNA World Title in a “Stairway to Janice” match. Abyss’ weapon/girl, Janice, will be hanging overhead. First person to get it, can use it.
Backstage: The Beautiful People are back at odds now that they no longer have the Knockout Tag Team Titles. Velvet blames Madison for the loss and Lacey is trying to break them up with help from security. In the process Velvet knocks Lacey backwards into an equipment container, knocking her out cold. Velvet realizes and calls for the medics.
Ultimate X Match – Best of Five Series (4 of 5)
Beer Money Inc. vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Champions)
WINNERS: Guns via removing the X
- Before match, Robert Roode gives the Guns some credit for being a good tag team, and then talks a little smack about Beer Money being the best in the world, and how they’re going to end this series tonight in the Guns’ signature match.
- Chris Sabin tells them they have the belts so they’re the best in the world and the only way to get these belts is to pry them from their cold, dead fingers.
Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff & Ms. Tessmacher come to the ring. Bischoff wants to talk a little bit about next week’s special edition of Impact called “The Whole FN Show.” He says that it’s going to be PPV quality matches on Spike TV, then runs down the card.
- Interrupted by Kevin Nash who’s still pissed that they’ve been dodging him over the past few weeks. Hulk tells Nash that they’ve “got to step aside and let the young guys take the business over for the next decade… The politics you’ve played by have to stop.”
- Nash gets pissed even more throwing Bischoff aside and tries to attack Hogan. Hulk fends him off for a little bit until a low blow from Nash. He goes to get a chair to bash Hogan with, but is cut off by Jeff Jarrett. As Jarrett unloads on Nash, Sting (with red paint) attacks Jarrett with his trademark bat, and then knocks Hogan for a loop with a chair.
Backstage: Christy Hemme tries to get a word with Nash and Sting, but they walk away from her.
Orlando Jordan vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero
WINNER: Pope via pin fall after hitting the DDE
- Mid match, Eric Young comes to the ramp to collect the “Dinero bucks” from Pope’s entrance money drop, and it distracts Jordan (partners last week). Pope takes advantage.
- Post match, Matt Morgan attacks Dinero from behind. Mr. Anderson runs out with a chair and Morgan heads for the hills. Dinero and Anderson jaw in the middle of the ring for a bit, and the two “rogue” security guards from last week’s incident get in between them. No problems this time around.
Backstage: Christy Hemme is with Ric Flair. She asks about his Street Fight with Jay Lethal and what his reactions to the stipulation of the match where if Fortune gets involved, he’ll be suspended without pay. Flair does one of his usual rants and ends by saying, “Lethal, tonight you die!”
Street Fight
Jay Lethal vs. Ric Flair
WINNER: Flair via pin fall
- Mid match, Doug Williams (NOT a member of Fortune) comes out and helps Flair get the win by cracking Jay Lethal in the head with his X-Division Title.
Backstage: Christy Hemme is with Rob Van Dam. She has him run down his strategy for his upcoming week of challenges (tonight in the tag match, Sunday against a mystery opponent, and next Thursday against Abyss). RVD says that he’s going to take it one match at a time.
- In walks Jerry Lynn who says, “On Sunday, you and I get to tear it up one more time!” They shake hands. RVD is in shock.
Abyss & Raven vs. RVD & Tommy Dreamer
WINNER: RVD/Dreamer via pin fall after hitting 5 Star Frog Splash on Raven
- Post match Abyss attacks both men from behind. Singles out RVD and hits Choke Slam. Then turns to Dreamer with same result. Out runs Stevie Richards & Rhino and they cannot best Abyss. Out runs Team 3D and they start to best Abyss till Raven comes back in with a chair.
- LIGHTS OUT/LIGHTS ON, The Sandman is in the ring and he canes the crap out of both Raven and Abyss!
- EV2.0 comes out to celebrate with some beers as screen fades to black.
Video Package: Look at Hardcore Justice with flashback photos from the “extreme days.” EV2.0 reflect on their experiences.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
First off, I have to start out by saying how pissed off I was watching the Knockout’s Tag Title Match. Lacey Von Erich is a piece of crap in the ring, and is a disgrace to pro wrestling! Almost every moment she was involved in the match looked like there was hesitation on her part and it just reflected terribly on the whole match. I don’t understand why they even let her into the arena sometimes. She may be part of a wrestling family, but she’s not taking their legacy seriously when it comes to performing in the ring.
Once again the Guns and Beer Money do it again and tear the house down! I can’t wait till next week to see how this best of five is going to be capped off. I hope that the finale is as good as all these other matches have been!
The Lethal/Flair street fight was hella funny. Flair was a bloody mess, and to top it off Flair came to the ring in his suit. Lethal promptly destroyed the suit and Flair wrestled the second half of the match in his underwear. Thank God for censors because the crowd got a good look at Flair’s ass! Flair got around the match stipulation of no outside interference from Fortune by bringing out Doug Williams. As of now, I’m wondering where else this rivalry can go? Could it possibly lead to a loser leaves the business match???
It’s great to hear that Jerry Lynn and The Sandman are going to be at Hardcore Justice! I think Lynn vs. RVD is going to tear the FN house down!
