WWE NXT – 8/10/10

Last night on NXT, one rookie’s dream was shattered as another WWE Poll was revealed.  Who did enough to gain favor with the WWE Pros and the fans of the WWE Universe?  Find out right here:

Video Package: Earlier tonight, Matt Striker has Josh Matthews & Michael Cole show off tonight’s Rookie Challenge, Power of the Punch.

  • Cole looks like a dork in WWE merch and glasses.  He does Lebron’s pregame powder ritual before taking his shot.  Cole loses to Josh and is pissed off.

All the Pros and Rookies are announced to the crowd.  Matt Striker talks about tonight’s poll, and says in three weeks is going to be the finale of NXT.

  • Striker then introduces the Rookie Challenge, and whoever wins will get a chance to make a solo appearance on RAW next week.
  • WINNER: Alex Riley – He then gloats about his victory.

Video Package: During commercial break, The Miz & John Morrison argue about SummerSlam.  Miz wants JoMo to admit that Team WWE needs him to help face The Nexus.

  • JoMo doesn’t give Miz the satisfaction and instead challenges him to a match to prove as to why they don’t need him.

Kaval, Percy Watson & Lucky Cannon vs. Michael McGillicutty, Husky Harris & Alex Riley
WINNERS: Kaval/Watson/Cannon via pin fall after Kaval hit McGillicutty with the Warrior’s Way

  • Post match, Matt Striker has the pros huddle up to figure out their rankings for the poll.

Non-Title Match
The Miz vs. John Morrison
WINNER: The Miz via pin fall after hitting the Skull Crushing Finale

  • Mid match, Morrison missed kicking the Miz and kicked the turnbuckle instead.  Possible injury.

Before Matt Striker reveals the poll, he asks the rookies who they think should go home.  The consensus is Lucky Cannon.

  • Alex Riley says that he wants Matt Striker to go home because he’s a nerd and asks too many questions.
  • The WWE Poll is revealed:
  1. Kaval
  2. Michael McGillicutty
  3. Percy Watson
  4. Husky Harris
  5. Alex Riley

ELIMINATED: Lucky Cannon

  • Matt Striker gives Lucky a chance to address the WWE Universe one last time.  He says, “It’s been an adventure every week.”  He thanks everyone for the opportunity and then goes to shake all of the other rookies’ hands.
  • Striker then turns to Alex Riley and asks about if he’s disconnected from the WWE Universe?  Riley doesn’t care about the fns and still believes that he’s going to win NXT.

Matt Striker then drops a bomb on everyone when he reveals that next week will be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION NIGHT!

QUICK THOUGHTS:

I cannot help but be excited every time I see Kaval hit the Warrior’s Way, but I cannot help but be scared shitless every time as well.  It just looks so devastating that I can’t help but feel he’s going to screw up one of these days and just cave someone’s chest in.

I’m excited that Lucky Cannon is gone.  It’s about time.  That guy had no charisma and was just average when it came to the ring.

I’m really shocked to see that Husky Harris moved up in the poll, but we’ll see what happens when next week’s double elimination comes around.  My gut reaction is telling me that Percy Watson is going to drop off, and I hope that Alex Riley goes too (He’s too much like the Miz).
