Weekly Roundup: WWE Survivor Series Kicks Off Wild Week

It has been an absolutely wild week in the word of wrestling. It all started on Sunday, with WWE Survivor Series, which is one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year, and it ran through the US holiday weekend, which was one of the most newsworthy weekends in a long time.

Let’s take you back to Sunday, with our review of Survivor Series, where a certain WCW legend finally made his WWE debut, an internet darling stole the show.

"It was absolutely surreal seeing Sting on a WWE show. I couldn’t believe what I was watching! Fans who have been waiting for over thirteen years to see this happen finally got their wish; it was quite frankly, awesome!"

The next night on Raw, the WWE Universe witnessed the returns of one of their favorites, and somebody they never thought they’d see again.

"Following the show, I was ready to sum up the night with the return of Daniel Bryan and the impact that he played on his one-night-only Raw General Manager role. However, the return of the Anonymous Raw GM changed that all with one sound and a line from Michael Cole that we haven’t heard in almost three years."

With only two weeks before NXT TakeOver: R Evolution, this week’s NXT was the 1,000,000th straight great edition of the show.

"This was a great episode of NXT.This episode was entertaining the whole way, from the beginning with Breeze, to The Lucha Dragons’ match, all the way through to the great match between Kidd and Balor. What a fantastic hour of TV."

That wasn’t the biggest thing that happened on Thursday, as CM Punk finally broke his silence, and it did not disappoint.

"This was one of the longest, if not the longest podcast that Cabana has ever done. Punk spoke freely about what caused him to walk out the night after the Rumble, bouncing around on a timeline that stayed mainly from Survivor Series 2011, the beginning of his 434 day title reign, all the way up to present day."

Ryback responded to Punk’s comments.

(He deleted those tweets.)

A couple of times.

(He deleted that one, too.)

WWE responded.

"WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon."

There were reports on the backstage reaction to Punk’s comments, including Vince McMahon and Triple H’s reactions.

"Well, according to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, who did an audio show about the situation, almost everybody in WWE has listened to the podcast, and even though many guys had issues with Punk, pretty much all of them loved it. Alvarez said that a lot of guys in the locker room are afraid to speak out, and they are thrilled that Punk took to a public forum to do so."

SmackDown had a very strong showing on Friday night.

"This was a good episode of SmackDown, startlingly better than Monday’s Raw.Other than the announcers not mentioning Seth Rollins illegally causing Ryback to be eliminated from the main event of Survivor Series, almost every match happened for a reason that was acknowledged, giving the show continuity, something that should take place with regularity."

While rumors swirled about what could be in the future of the soon-to-be Thursday night show.

"According to The Wrestling Observer, when the move occurs in the middle of January, WWE will stop looking at Raw as the “A-show,” and SmackDown as the “B-show,” instead, WWE will put them on the same level. WWE’s main reason for doing this is to make SmackDown a “can’t miss” show, so as to give it a better chance in the ratings, since Thursday is a stronger TV night than Friday is."

Nikki Bella and John Cena commented on an edited promo from Friday’s SmackDown.

Finally, we got some news about a potential match for Ryback at January’s Royal Rumble.

"On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Metlzer reported that there are plans for match between The Cerebral Assassin and The Big Guy, but that the main discussion is on when the match would take place. Right now, talk has the two squaring off with each other in January at Royal Rumble."

It was an insane week, but we’ve got it all covered. Stick with Daily DDT as we continue to follow the CM Punk story, and as we move toward TLC, Royal Rumble, and The Road to WrestleMania.

Tweet of the Week

After taking massive shots at his former company, CM Punk sat down to watch his Chicago Blackhawks beat the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, as he continued his Twitter feud with the Kings’ mascot, Bailey the lion. When “lion,” as Punk calls him, wasn’t saying much, Punk asked what was wrong, and Bailey had an awesome response:
