WWE Royal Rumble 2016: Why Brock Lesnar Must Be in the Rumble Match
By Carl Gac
With the turn of the year we start to begin the hype for the 2016 Royal Rumble. We look at why the Beast Incarnate needs to be in the match.
The last time we saw Brock Lesnar in a WWE ring was at Hell in a Cell, that night he and Undertaker destroyed each other on the way to Brock pinning the Deadman after a low blow and F5. The match also saw the surreal sight of Lesnar ripping up the ring canvas to take out his opponent on the exposed boards, that match was brutal, it was fantastic.
Since we last saw Lesnar in WWE a lot has happened. We have a new WWE Champion, the “League of Nations”, and a much changed landscape. However, when do we need to see Lesnar return? How about at the Royal Rumble?

Since he came back to the WWE for his second run with the company, Brock has been ridiculously dominant. He held the top title and was never really beaten for it. He destroyed every man put in his way, and has been one of the undoubted highlights in what has been a lean period for the company. Throwing Brock back in during a match where he can destroy multiple opponents makes perfect sense. Throw in the opportunity to give him a shot at winning back his belt at WrestleMania 32, and it’s a match made in heaven.
At a time when WWE is desperate for a big name to come back and boost the TV ratings, and with John Cena the only other name capable of doing that, having Lesnar as a surprise entrant in the battle royal would give them a massive shot in the arm. With Sheamus as champion, and Roman Reigns trying his hardest to win back the belt that he lost just over 5 minutes after winning for the first time, pushing Lesnar into the a feud for the belt is the most sensible option. The easiest way to achieve that would be to have him not only enter, but win the Royal Rumble.

Bringing Brock out as a surprise entry, in the later stages of the match, would give him the chance to build up some steam, eliminate a lot of men and then go in to the final few, before hitting his awesome power moves on a big man like The Big Show, then toss him out to get the title shot on the grandest stage of them all in Texas. Automatically you have a big name back on the show who can build up ratings by coming out and gloating that he won the Rumble and will go on to ‘Mania to win back his belt. Brock doesn’t have to be a defined babyface or heel—whatever role you put him in he will more than likely get cheered by the crowd.
Brock Lesnar is a legitimate beast, Brock Lesnar is a badass, Brock Lesnar is going to come back and Brock Lesnar is going to be your 2016 Royal Rumble winner.
