NXT TakeOver: Dallas Results: The Revival vs. American Alpha Video Highlights

Find out what happened when The Revival faced American Alpha for the NXT Tag Team titles at NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

The interesting thing about the build towards The Revival vs. American Alpha at NXT TakeOver: Dallas is that they haven’t really been in the ring with another. And yet this has been build as a clash of styles, with the tag champs’ smash mouth style taking on the technical prowess of the challengers.

How did it all turn out?

The tag title match was the red hot opener for the entire show, and they showed up ready to get the crowd pumped! American Alpha was first, sporting new gear.

They were followed by the champs, who were less hyped, even in their own brand new team jackets.

The match started off with Gable showing off the moves that made him an Olympic-class wrestler, but he still had to give Dawson a smack to get his attention.

Both of these teams are the model of tag team efficiency, but it was American Alpha that got to show off their double-team skills first.

Speaking of double teams, how about double German suplexes?

Eventually the champs were able to gain control and grind the match to halt by focusing on Gable.  The sneaky champs used every dirty book at their disposal to stay on top, including this sweet bit of misdirection by Wilder.

But they couldn’t keep Jordan out of the ring for long, and once he tagged in he was a house afire, showing off his power with some brutal suplexes.

But the champs had one last gasp in them, and of course it meant trying to steal a victory.

When that didn’t work, American Alpha took advantage to hit the Grand Amplitude and score the 1..2..3! New NXT Tag Team Champions!

Gable and Jordan have risen to the top of the tag team ranks faster than just about any team in NXT history! It’s been a long road to get her, one littered with lots of failures, but now that they are champs the future is looking very bright.

Trav’s Thoughts: Great way to start the show! NXT built this by highlighting the differences in both teams and this match played that up perfectly. The crowd was pumped throughout and for the title change, as well. It was good to see American Alpha break from their usual formula for this one, and hopefully we get to see more of that now as they defend the belts.
