Honor Rising 2017 Results: Kenny Omega, Adam Cole Tease Bullet Club Tension (Video)
At the first night of ROH and NJPW’s Honor Rising event, Kenny Omega and Adam Cole teased some inter-Bullet Club drama.
On Sunday morning, Night One of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Honor Rising event took place. This saw the NJPW return of Kenny Omega, whose status had been up in the air after Wrestle Kingdom 11. He teamed with Adam Cole in the main event to face Jay and Mark Briscoe.
Omega and Cole are arguably NJPW and ROH’s Bullet Club leaders, respectively. The Cleaner has been a member for a few years, while the three-time ROH World champion joined last summer. They’re two big names, but did egos get in the way during the closing moments of Honor Rising?
After their tag team match, Omega cut a promo about his return and how 2017 will be his year. He started talking about taking over Japan and America, before Cole cut him off, saying the “Year of Adam Cole” will be what everyone talks about. Cole then dropped the microphone in front of Omega and walked away.
This is one of the rare times that an inter-Bullet Club feud has been teased. Omega notoriously kicked AJ Styles out of the group the night after Wrestle Kingdom 10, but that was due to him going to WWE, so no follow-up angle happened.
This is a different story, however. It could lead to Cole and Omega deciding who’s the leader of the Bullet Club with a match down the line. Maybe they battle for the ROH World Championship at a future show, or even go head-to-head at the G1 Climax in the summer. They could always become the winners of Block A and B, respectively, and have to battle for a spot in the Wrestle Kingdom 12 main event.
On the other hand, there are also other events to put these two head-to-head at. There’s Sakura Genesis, Wrestling Dontaku, and Dominion still to go before G1 Climax, with the latter arguably being the most significant of the three.
