WWE 205 Live Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for March 7

Austin Aries is back on 205 Live and has a message for the current Cruiserweight Champion, Neville.

This past week on Raw we saw the long-awaited return of the Greatest Man That Ever Lived, Austin Aries. Following the altercation with Neville, Aries announced that he has a message for Neville on this week’s 205 Live.

The show starts off with SmackDown Live still going on, showing AJ Styles making his way to the back while Randy Orton celebrates his victory. 205 Live is now down to a two man crew with Aries’ return to the ring. Rich Swann and Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs Noam Dar and Ariya Davari.

Aries Addresses Neville

Austin Aries has an exclusive interview with none other than Austin Aries. He addresses what happened on RAW with Neville. Aries says commentary Aries is no more and in ring expert Aries is here on 205 Live.

Neville comes out to confront Aries. He starts off by saying Aries isn’t on his level. Aries responds by saying he agrees, because he’s at the A-Double level. Neville tells Aries that he needs to consider this career move and go back to the announcers desk. Neville also says that, during his time on commentary, Aries has made a lot of enemies in the back with his jokes while they were putting in the work. Aries responds saying is any Cruiserweight has a problem with him they can meet him in the ring.

Mauro Ranallo announces that AJ Styles got into a heated confrontation with SmackDown Live GM Shane McMahon in the back.

Noam Dar and Ariya Davari vs Rich Swann and Jack Gallagher

Result: Rich Swann and Jack Gallagher defeat Noam Dar and Ariya Davari via pinfall

Before the match a backstage segment with Gallagher and Swann talking about their match before they were interrupted by Noam Dar. Dar told them to take notes during their match tonight. Dar then proceeded to ask if they knew anything about the flowers that were went to Alicia Fox during 205 Live last week and the faces respond no.

The match itself was nothing special, there was some good back and forth but came to end following a Phoenix Splash by Rich Swann on Dar. The flower delivery man from last week makes his way back to the ring with a box of chocolate and Dar calls him out for being late before giving them to Fox.

After the match, Corey Graves says that Tony Nese has accepted Aries’ open challenge and that match will happen in tonight’s main event.

Akira Tozawa vs Brian Kendrick

Result: Akira Tozawa defeats Bryan Kendrick

Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars

The Brian Kendrick’s next lesson? Always read the fine print. Kendrick makes his way out to the ring but he will not be his opponent but a Bryan Kendrick will be. An enhancement talent comes out as Bryan Kendrick with a “y” and is squashed fairly quickly.

Neville is interviewed backstage. He comes at Aries again for disrespecting the other Cruiserweights for making jokes while on commentary. Neville ends the interview with a cryptic message. He says that we will find out who his next opponent will be next week on 205 Live.

Austin Aries vs Tony Nese

Result: Austin Aries defeats Tony Nese via pinfall

Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars

Nese, as he does so many times, uses his strength to get the early momentum. Aries is able to regain control of the match by slowing the pace of the match down and going to work on Nese. Things swing back to Nese’s favoring following a gutbuster leading Nese to go to work on Aries’ ribs. The match starts to pick up pace with some good back and forth between these two. Aries lands a suicide dive to the outside and rolls Nese back to the ring. Aries hits the roaring elbow and picks up a victory in his 205 Live debut.

Overall a step down from recent weeks of 205 Live but Aries and Neville can definitely take the division to the next level. What will Austin Aries and the other Cruiserweights have to go through to get a Championship match at WrestleMania?
