John Cena to Induct Kurt Angle into 2017 WWE Hall of Fame

John Cena is being given the honor of inducting Kurt Angle into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame.

John Cena emerged to become a top star in the WWE around 2006. He started as the Prototype, then the Dr. of Thuganomics gimmick, only to take on the “Never Give Up” persona and be the heart and soul of the Leader in Sports Entertainment.

What put Cena on the map was his match against Kurt Angle in 2002. With the latter man being inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame, the company is going back to those roots. They announced that the Face That Runs the Place will induct Angle during the ceremony on Friday, Mar. 31 at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.

This comes just days after Angle spoke in an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, giving his list of people he’d like to induct him, but not having the choice of who. It seems he got his wish, however (h/t Cageside Seats):

"“Honestly, I don’t know. I always thought that you got to pick. I do believe that WWE will listen to you and listen to who you would like to induct you but overall, I think they pick. I’m okay with that, I think they know who I like and who I had great programs with and who I got along with the most. I always throw out there, I hope it’s either Austin, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar or John Cena so I would imagine it’s one of those four but I don’t know yet.”"

Given how many times WWE have played Cena vs. Angle from 2002, it only seems logical they went down this path for the person to induct the Olympic Gold Medalist. They even made highlighted it in the announcement.
