WWE Rumors: Paige-Xavier Woods Controversy Being Allowed to Blow Over

The WWE won’t be punishing Paige and Xavier Woods over the recent online controversy.

The story that consumed WWE wasn’t anything about the ring or WrestleMania 33, as Paige had explicit photos and videos of her leaked online. Afterward, she released a statement on Twitter and hasn’t been heard from since.

WWE star Xavier Woods was also linked to the online hack. Unlike Paige, he’s not injured, so he appeared on Monday’s episode of Raw. They somewhat addressed what happened for maybe three seconds, and then jumped into talking about WrestleMania.

If there was doubt whether WWE would punish Paige and Woods, then this should clear it up. On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio (Subscription required but recommended), Dave Meltzer said that WWE is going to let the recent leaked photo and video controversy “blow over.” There was also the following:

"I did hear from WWE. They didn’t say anything specific, but they’re not gonna do anything to anybody. I didn’t think they would unless a sponsor complained, because number one — New Day is somewhat of a hot act. Number two — if they did, that would have to become a policy and they couldn’t bring back Hogan…"

This doesn’t come as a surprise, especially after Seth Rollins and Tom Phillips had nothing happen to them. Granted, these are different situations from Paige and Woods’, but when it comes to the talent’s personal lives, WWE has tended to let everything blow over, like Meltzer said.

With Woods, we’ll see what happens when he gets in front of the crowd. His segment was backstage, so the Barclays Center crowd couldn’t reach face-to-face. Paige is still injured, so time will tell on what reaction — if any — that she receives whenever she comes back. It makes for an interesting situation, one that may be forgotten soon.
