Report: Jim Ross to Call Match at WWE WrestleMania 33

WWE Hall of Fame Jim Ross is expected to call a match at WrestleMania 33, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Jim Ross has been away from the WWE for almost four years. He was let go after a SummerSlam 2013 panel he hosted broke down. This led to him calling matches elsewhere, including for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 9 in 2015.

Ross, however, will be making a WWE appearance soon, as in within the next few days. Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting he’ll be a guest announcer for one of WrestleMania 33’s matches. It’s unknown which one it will be, but this apparently got put in place “weeks ago.” The Sooner is also expected to be part of future WWE Network programs.

Good ol’ JR’s appearance comes a short time after his wife, Jan, passed away. She was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident earlier this month.

As for the match he’ll call, one would think it’s a top bout from the WrestleMania card. This may mean either Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt or Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker.

If we had to guess, Reigns vs. Undertaker may be the choice. We noted earlier Friday how the plan was for this match to be the main event of the Show of Shows. This comes with speculation on the Dead Man’s health and his bout on Sunday being his last. None of that is guaranteed until it gets confirmed.

Ross could always call Lesnar vs. Goldberg too, which was the first match announced for WrestleMania 33. If this main events, maybe Ross gets put on the commentary booth to give it a “bigger fight feel.”
