Th3 WrestleMania 33 Kickoff Show has been talked about more than any other previous one. The controversy started on last week’s Monday Night Raw. During the broadcast, it was announced that Neville would defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries on the WrestleMania Kickoff Show. With this being one of the better storylines going many people thought it was worthy of the main card.
The controversy continued on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live, when it was announced Alexa Bliss would defend her title on the Kickoff Show as well. This news really rubbed people the wrong way. While the Raw Women’s Division may have more well-known names, the division in SmackDown Live has been far better since the brand split. However, because of the push back, this new got a change was made. The SmackDown Live Women’s Championship match will now be defended by Alexa Bliss on the main card. Now onto the special two-hour Kickoff Show itself. The usual match by match breakdown, analysis and predictions will be led by Renee Young. She will be joined on the panel by 3 WWE Hall of Famers: Booker T, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Shawn Michaels. With just two matches now on the Kickoff Show a special guest or two and the usual social media lounge segment should not be a surprise.
The first match on the WWE WrestleMania Kickoff Show will be the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. There was an original list of 30 competitors (which can be seen here) but we now know there will be at least 32.
The first of these two new entrants, as announced by Cathy Kelley, is The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry. The latest entry is NXT’s Tian Bing, who’s the first WWE Chinese Superstar.
Following NXT TakeOver: Orlando, Cathy Kelley announced that SAnitY’ Killian Dain will also be in the battle royal. As for favorites to win, Braun Strowman should and is considered the favorite by many.

Next, the match that should headline the WrestleMania Kickoff Show. The King of the Cruiserweights and Cruiserweight Champion, Neville will defend his title against Austin Aries. The build up to the feud has been amazing and these two guys are world class talent. It’s a shame that they aren’t on the main card but they make this year’s Kickoff Show a must-see event. On top of that, via JBL on the latest Bring It To The Table, last year 5 millions viewers tuned into the WrestleMania Kickoff Show.
