AJ Styles Reacts to WWE Great Balls of Fire PPV Name (Video)
All AJ Styles knows is he wants a piano or two at the upcoming WWE Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view.
If you follow along with WWE rumors, it looked like AJ Styles was headed to Raw during the Superstar Shakeup. However, he’s remained on SmackDown Live, taking over as the Face of the Show. This is leading to the Phenomenal One receiving a United States Championship Match against the recently-acquired Kevin Owens at Backlash.
If Styles joined Raw, he would have had to compete at their Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, which is taking place on Sunday, July 9, from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, TX. It’s quite the controversial PPV name, one that had the WWE Universe buzzing upon announcement.
Well, in a recent interview with Inside the Ropes, Styles found out about the Great Balls of Fire PPV. He reacted by asking about pianos, referring to Jerry Lee Lewis’ song, “Great Balls of Fire,” (h/t Cageside Seats for transcription):
"Do we really have a pay-per-view called Great Balls Of Fire? Wow. Is there gonna be a piano somewhere, like pianos everywhere? Is there gonna be like a hardcore match with pianos – that’s all I can think of is pianos when I hear Great Balls Of Fire, right?"
Styles really wants pianos at this show. Too bad he can’t be involved, though, to have a Piano Match. How about that match stipulation, while going after Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship?
Instead of the Great Balls of Fire PPV, the former NJPW star should be at SmackDown’s Battleground event on July 23. What he’ll do remains to be seen, as Backlash and June’s Money in the Bank shows have yet to occur.

Great Balls of Fire is a PPV name that probably got reactions from other WWE stars, as well. Will we see anyone mock it on the road to the show? Probably.
